I haven't seen anyone get thrown out at first yet. I have played probably 15 games or so, and a couple times the comp. tried on me with some pretty slow runners and they beat it out.

Re: IGN criticism was wrong!
I haven't seen it happen yet. In the first game I played, however, I did throw a runner out at 2nd from left field on a force play. The runner got a really late start going to 2nd, which would have been understandable if the hit had been a blooper, but it was a pretty solid hit.
I have only seen it once and it isnt a big deal to me, but if it happens too frequently it will annoy me a little bit.Comment

Re: IGN criticism was wrong!
I've encountered the tagging problem a few times. 4 or 5 times in 4 games so far. The ball seems to beat the runner by plenty of time, but the fielder doesn't put down the tag. I guess this could be attributed to offline throws, but each time there still seems to be enough time for the fielder to make a tag, but he just stands there.
For example, at one play at the plate the catcher caught the ball from the OF in plenty of time and could have tagged the runner by just sticking out his arm or moving about 6 inches to make the runner collide with him, but he just stood there. I couldn't get control of the catcher in time to manually move him in to position to make a tag.
I guess this is a pretty minor thing, since I think the game is a total blast to play. The pitcher/batter interface is awesome. It so much more immersive than just picking a pitch and location.XBL: TancComment

Re: IGN criticism was wrong!
I think this whole "tagging problem/bug/glitch" whatever you wanna call it.... is not a problem at all. Like many have said it only seems to happen when the throw is off line. they didn't quite animate it perfectly so it may look like your guy could easily make the tag but doesn't. if you just accept that it is a legitimate baseball occurence due to the bad throw, you'll have no beef.Comment

Re: IGN criticism was wrong!
I've been rationalizing it as an offline throw, so it doesn't bother me that much. It does look a little silly though when your catcher has the ball in his glove a foot away from home plate and just stands there as the baserunner strolls right past him. Not a huge problem. The game has plenty of positives to more than make up for the small bugs I've seen so far.XBL: TancComment

exactly, sometimes you just have to accept that these things ARE videogames, there will always be small quirks.Comment

but a right fielder throwing someone out at first is something that happens from time to time in real baseball, especially if the runner is slow and the RF has a good arm

I've been watching and playing baseball since i was 6 years old.... I have seen this done once, and only because the runner over stepped the firstbase bag, and never touched it, while trying to beat out a throw in from RF. If you think this happens more than once every 20 or 30 years, you need to stick with paying attention to video games. because baseball logic isnt in your vocabulary.Comment
