    Stealing Bug

I got the game last night and played three games on both All-Star and Legends levels. In three games, I had approximately 20 stolen bases playing as the Yankees and using guys not exactly known for speed on the base paths. Giambi, Posada, Ventura, Rondell White were successful every time stealing second base. First, against the Blue Jays, I never was thrown out. Then, against Baltimore who has an average catcher, still was not thrown out. Finally, playing against the Red Sox with a catcher who has a scouting report that says he is the best defensive catcher in the league, all of the guys mentioned were sucessful 100% of the time. I have been playing with the pitch speed at fast. I did not try moving it up to very fast. The pitchers occasionally threw over to first base. However, what concerns me is that I stole second with slow runners without having to take much of a lead at all. Could someone else please confirm this? This game had the same problem last year where stealing was automatic.

Well this problem was supposed to be fixed in WSB 2K3. If not, I am going to be pissed. I do not yet have the game so I cannot verify this problem. CAn anyone else with the game confirm this problem?

i did notice in one of the movies i saw that manny ramirez stole second with hardly any lead. i kind of wondered about that. if it's true, i don't think it's a gamekiller unless you let it be. you just have commit to only stealing with players who would steal in real life. just like in high heat you can bunt for a basehit 100% of the time with a fast runner. you just have to tell yourself that you only bunt in sac situations or situations where hits have been few and far between and in that case you don't put it right down the 3rd baseline but more between 3B and the mound.

but back on topic, of course, having no CS in a season may be a problem for guys who give a [censored] about realism (count me as one of them). more people should look into this.

btw, how easy is it to steal third? is it possible with a fast runner? i know HH always had a problem in that stealing third was impossible unless a knuckleballer was on the mound.

This is a game killer for me and I think I will stick with HH 2004 which by far is the best baseball game this year. You can make the bunting in HH 2004 much harder by tuning the sliders.

don't have the game yet but don't like the sounds of this stealing bug, any chance one of the sliders can improve the catchers throwing ability, also the first poster mentions he uses only the fast not very fast pitches maybe someone could try stealing with the fastest pitch speed setting and let us know the results, thanks

At fastest pitch speed, I just had Manny Ramirez, Jeremy Giambi, Trot Nixon and Jason Varitek (thankfully) thrown out at second. Johnny Damon looked like a fairly close play, catcher had an outside fastball to handle. Hillenbrand also got a steal, but the pitch was an outside curveball in the dirt, and it was very close at second.
