First, I like Willie and while he has made some questionable calls I still think he's a pretty good manager. As for my comments connecting staying dry with dissension, well that may have been too strong a connection to make but from everything i've seen and read most of the Mets players don't feel passionate about Willie one way or the other. In fact, i've read and seen quotes where the players are like "let's get this ordeal over with".

Let's put it this way, it's probably not a loose locker room right now. I think you can at least agree with that statement? Of course I don't live in NY so i'm not getting all the nuances of it but I do have access to SNY (don't ask how ) and a lot of the people on that network seem to be clamoring for some sort of change one way or another. Are they right in going after Willie the way they are? Probably not, but when you're in a market like NYC those kinda things come with the territory.

Basically what's going on NYC right now is the Blue Jays situation but with 10x more intensity.

Well, of course it wouldn't be a loose locker room right now; how could it be with your manager having a bi-weekly death watch, and your closer blowing three saves in a row, two of which wasted wonderful performances by John Pelfrey and Johan Santana? The losing magnifies everything.

Seriously I think that pinch hitting for Pedro was right in that situation. He's basically a 6 inning pitcher these days and that was a good time to pull him and get a better bat in the lineup at that time.

It seems to me that Mets fans (the crazy ones) are letting their frustrations get to their heads. I thought NY had a good baseball fanbase?

WOW.... I am listening to the FAN now, and surprisingly, I am in complete agreement with Francesa; the way the franchise has handled this situation has been deplorable, and Willie is now close to being a martyr after being left twisting in the wind... Give him the rest of the year, and get out the way (Francesa's words)... The Wilpons look like they haven't the slightest clue on what they're doing.

I dont understand why Carew stays on these boards and complains about WFAN. Dude u complain more about the fans and radio shows than fans complain about the Mets. Who cares. Thats why sports radio is entertaining. If they didnt have idots throwing out all the conspiracy theories, you would get the true story and then have nothing to talk about.

I'm sorry if todays Mets fans arent a bunch of people running around talking about "Ya gotta beleive!". Its not going to happen, when you suck for a long stretch, then try to buy a championship, then suck just the same (minus 06) people tend to get Irrate. I myself, am pretty much done with my complaining for this year. Im looking forward to getting a new coach, new GM, new players filtered in. Im already prepared for 2-3 years of mediocracy until maybe 2010-11 when we should be able to get back to the playoffs.

a) I do it because I FEEL like it

so with that said, you need to understand that:

b) the racist, ignorant, ill-informed, God-awful stuff on The FAN...represents a lot of Mets fans/pseudo-fans...Of course, not all...but MANY. And don't get it twisted.

c) I want people across this country to know how ignorant many callers and sometimes some hosts are. I've been listening to The Fan since it's inception...have you?

And in those 22 years, the downslide has progressed more and more.Add to the fact that now en masse, we have blogs, the internet (full force), MLB.com and it's boards...overall, the stupidity is OUT of control.

So, in closing, if some of what I said hits home...then get YOUR act together, and you won't be so upset.

I'd say Mets fans hating on Reyes while ignoring Wright's lack of hustle and leadership might be based on the fact that Reyes is Dominican, but I wouldn't go the Willie route on race. Mets fans want Willie gone because the team has been disappointing and they want anything to switch it up.

Reyes=black Dominican...so he gets it unfairly on two counts...as an African-American/Latino myself, there is NO doubt about that.

But I'll tell you this:

And individuals keep listening... it's all just a virus that festers amongst them and the hosts are there to fuel it. Get listeners... bring in callers... and drive ratings.

You will always hear more stupidity on these talk shows than sensibility.. because the idiocy drives others to call in and combat it or pisses off the listener to the point where they will continue to listen in hopes of some intelligence.
