Re: Mets fire Randolph; name Manuel interim
I must say....the timing is terrible(on the road I mean)...
You had to know it was coming....but I wish they could fire some players instead of the manager.
I didn't agree with Randolph's style of managing. Too subdued for me....but I think the guy(from what I can see) is a stand-up guy and the whole situation was handled poorly.

Re: Mets fire Randolph; name Manuel interim
It seems that now we have the "second generation" owners running the show (Jeff and Hank) that seem to go on a path that their fathers didn't go. Fred actually was a respected owner when he ran the club - now his son is turning it into a laughing stockComment

Anyway, it's puzzling move to let Randolph go at this point. It really makes you wonder about the timing. Maybe they were waiting to decide to let the other coaches go too? Who knows.Comment

Listening to WFAN, sounds like Tony Bernazard has been playing a large role behind the scenes, and we all know Willie HATED Bernazard.Comment

Re: Mets fire Randolph; name Manuel interim
I wanted Willie to come back after last year's collapse, but then changed my mind after watching the Mets play the same lifeless baseball they played last September. The time to fire Willie was last week, not after winning 3 of 4 and beginning a West Coast trip. The main problem with the Mets has been Omar's reliance on veteran players and the lack of production from their 4 and 5 hitters.
As bad as the Mets season has gone, they still have a good chance at winning division.Comment

It's too bad that personal reasons clouded judgment. At least the Mets have a pretty good interim guy in Jerry Manuel. I've always thought he was a very capable manager.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: Mets fire Randolph; name Manuel interim
Not a mets fan by any stretch but it was hard to not root for willie to do well. Seeing as how he is truly a class act it sucks to see him be let go in this fashion. HOpefully the yankees can find a spot for him somewhere on their staff.Go Yankees
Go Rangers

Wow, I dont pay close attention to Mets baseball but Omar Minaya is really longwinded and constantly repeats himself over and over again, he is a terrible interview to say the least. Is he always like this?Comment
