    Pitching Tips

I am simply putting this up here because someone requested it. I do not gurantee these tips will work, but the person I gave them to originally said they have helped.

"I have no idea why people think you can't strike people out. If you use some common sense it will work, it is tough and it should be.

    1. Don't go out of the zone on 0-2 or 1-2 counts. They don't fall for that and they shouldn't, this isn't little league it's MLB. Try getting them to
chase on new counts or when your behind 1-0 etc. Basically when they are expecting a good pitch.
EDIT - What I meant here is don't expect someone to chase an 0-2 pitch blantantly out of the strike zone..people who do that are bad hitters. That doesn't mean you can try it especially in conjunction with tip #2

    2. Don't go out of the zone to their Cold Zones. They know they have trouble hitting in these areas so why would they chase a bad pitch there? I tend to go out of the zone in their hot areas or the uncolored areas. A batter would be more aggressive in his hot areas don't you think?

these tips have really made a difference when using the above in different situations. Hope it works for you, I struck out 12 with Woods tonight"

                I play on All-Star

Yes I tend to get them to chase pitches out of the zone in their hot areas and uncolored areas.

On 0-2 or 1-2 counts I will waste a pitch, the current hitter actuals determines where I wll go with the pitch. Some guys, the really poor hitters (and their aren't many) will chase pitches outside the strike zone no matter where you attempt it.

But if it's a good hitter, I'll usualy waste one maybe high and tight and then look for a red or uncolored area I can go out of the zone with.

Of course someone asked me what if the guy is All Blue except dead center...guess what that guy can't hit! If you mix up pitches and speeds in the strike zone..in those blue areas you can usually strike someone out.

For the record I think the average per game strikeouts last season was somewhere aroun 6.7 per 9 innings. I am going on memory so don't quote me.

                    Re: Pitching Tips

The problem with the strikeouts is that a pitcher should not be able to hit a 90-something MPH slider that Randy Johnson throws in his BLUE area. It happens way too often. To fix the pitching woes I think they should have a tiny sliver (the same width as the bar) in the middle of the "accuracy zone." If you stopped the cursor at that point you should pitch an automatic strike. To compensate for this they should make the cursor travel quicker through the zone.

thanks, DSpezzano. i'll see if this helps. i tried pitching outside of there hotzones a little earlier and it seemed like it got me some results. a little bit of risk and reward. pitching close to their hotzones, you don't want to miss the green or ya hang a fat one. i like it.

Something I do when I have the computer down in the count is to put half of the ball in the red zone. Then I throw something w/ spin that moves away from the hot zone. It seems to work alot of the time.
