I have ot say that MVP ruined WSB for me.

I'm no fan of the cursor system in fact, I can't even play a game with it because of my tendency just to swing at everything when it's close to the curosr.

Now MVP isn't perfect but I suppose if you play it for what it is then it's a great game. If you are looking for an all encompassiong sim then HH or WSB would be better to look at.

I have similar feelings. I don't think MVP has ruined WSB for me, but I may have a new favorite game.

I'm really enjoying it so far, that's for sure. It was a really hard choice this year between WSB and MVP, but in the end MVP's interesting pitcher/batter interface is what tipped the scales. I have last year's WSB, and while its a great game, pitching is pretty boring. In MVP every pitch is interesting because you're doing more than just selecting a pitch and hitting a button to throw it.

Re: Guys, Straight up: Is MVP A KEEPER?

I have to say its a tuff call...there are so many great elements about this game that take video game baseball to the next level in terms of user control and features but at the same time there seems to be some question marks in some of the basic AI of those very same great features.

The game isnt as complex a game as ASB or WSB but it can be more fun to jump in and play. It really conveys the sensation of hitting the ball and going with the pitch to stroke it. And the pitching system is fantasticly implemented to make being on the mound as exciting and as challenging as batting. I really enjoy playing both sides of the field equally. The game is a great first step in a new direction for EA Baseball and I would almost be as bold to say that these added elements of pitching and batting may actually need to become an industry standard because its so fun and immersive. But to be totally fair there are alot of questionable little things in the games AI and engine that hold be back from saying this game is fantastic....which it could easily be provided some of these things got ironed out.

If you dont have a really demanding baseball eye and a desire for a deeper interpretation of the sport, then I say this is definitely a BUY! This game may actually force me to change the way I now play ASB 2004. MVP is a game that you wanna get in there, get your hands and feet dirty and just PLAY!.....I may simply play MVP for all my 'hands on' cravings and switch to a manage only style in ASB so I can get the best of both worlds

                    Go For it!

I'm still deciding too. Overall it's a fun game but for me it's just too easy. I'm hitting everything that's being pitched on all-star. I think that if I keep it I will play this for my 2 player games and WSB for my single player games.

Im not sure what to get either. I just made a thead in the WSB forum asking for opinions. Im gonna go get one very shortly, so if you MVPers wouldnt mind, give me some input here:

Keeper. The batter/pitcher interface is intuitive and puts more work on the pitching aspect of the game. Much like shanking a golf shot in a video golf game or choking on a crucial Madden field goal the pitching meter allows you to "choke" on a big 3-2 count by throwing a ball or "hanging" a pitch by not falling within the green accuracy zone on your second meter button press. If the pitch is "hanged" there will be a "tip off" to the batter by a colored ball that will be either clear(falls in neutral hitting zone of that particular batter),red(hot zone of hitter),blue(cold zone of hitter)or a ball with a yellow "X"(out of strike zone). All of these fat pitches are very hittable, even the cold zones. I hit a double on an inside yellow "X" ball that was out of the strike zone. These colored balls correspond to the hit zones within the strike zone for a given batter.
