disregard the above post. Anyways, as for the whole sim issue, if you want the best possible sim then buy a text based game. MVP is a nice combo of sim and user skill.

This batting interface is entirely overrated (unless I'm missing something here). I push a button to time my swing, YEEEEEHAAAAA! How innovative! (Please note: Sarcasm does not translate well to the text medium) This game is an absolute bore. Hitting the ball is too easy, you never strike out....and the computer never swings at pitches outside the strike zone. This game feels like a retreaded version of Triple Play with some pitch/throw meters and less HRs. Damn you EB for removing your return policy!

Anyone want to buy a copy of MVP for XBOX? I'm selling real cheap

(Alos, BJ Surhoff still on the braves? Rick Hellling on the Diamondbacks, Valentin on the mets? WTF?)

        <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

Hmmm, you sound familiar, who wants to guess who this really is??

If you want, I can lose the sarcasm in my impresssion of the game. I just found this game to be average. Sure it looks pretty and sounds great, but there's no substance underneath it.
1.) Hitting became pressing a button, rendering any pitches w/ motion on them all but worthless.
2.) Pitching was a chore because the batters never swung at anything outside the zone (even when ahead in the count, located near their hot zone)
                3. ) The plays at the plate bothered me, not once did my catcher tag out a runner at home.

That's strictly my opinion, take it as it is, but please don't write it off like it's worthless.

After playing so many games over the years, I want sim titles that are fun. Becuase sim titles that are too hung up on themselves just tend to be tedious after a while."
I agree JRod. The preoccupation with exact stats is something I'm not afflicted with. If it's fun it's fun,and this game is fun.

So far, JayBee, JRod, and madskilz have said everything(both positive and negative) that I'm thinking about this game in various posts. Bottome line---take the game for what it is and you'll have a blast, instead of trying to make it something that it isn't and getting ticked off about it.

To touch on the person who says the hitting mechanism is highly overrated.....

Maybe your right, but what is hitting in general?......someone pitches a ball at you and you swing your bat at the ball. That's hitting in a nutshell. The reason why hitting is such a big deal in MVP is simply because, finally someone took the simplistic hitting mechanics of High Heat baseball and matched them up with the realistic pitch speeds of All Star Baseball and got the feel very right. Hitting has only been made recently complicated by video game designers in their exhaustive search to come up wth a better and more believable way to translate the realism of hitting into a game. MVP streamlines the process back to its basics and says lets make it more real by..... making it replicate real hitting rather than making more gadgets and cursors to simulate the process. MVP has done a very good job in this area....even if it feels overrated, the sensation of hitting is captured very well because your facing velocities, realistic location placement and balanced pitch types without overexaggerating anything to make it more easier or more difficult for the user. So far Im enjoying it....It does have some various issues but the user batting doesnt seem to be one of them....yet.

                                Great post Smalls,
The hitting in MVP is simple but simplicity is one of the best ingredients for intuitiveness.I've never played a baseball game where the "pull" and "punch" effect of batting the ball is so palpable. This game might not be for everybody, but it sure as hell is for me.
