Like he said, he's going for pull homeruns, so up/left with righties and up/right w/ lefties. That's usually where a batter's wheelhouse is, though I hit an opposite field shot with Alou last night

yeah, what he said. I have hit a bunch of really solid shots to the opposite field, but they never clear the wall. I smoked a double off the left field wall with Eric Chavez last night that I thought was a sure HR, but hit the top of the wall. Going oppo for a homer is gonna be mighty tough.

There are times when you need a HR to break a tie, but I love going the opposite way with a single, the hits look more realistic than any bb game I've played. Fouling off 3 or 4 wicked pitches, then going with the pitch for a single or a double is definitly satisfying.

when it's all said and done, you can point the stick anywhere you want but if you don't time the pitch right and hit that x button at the right time, you're not gonna hit a home run.

i think people might be putting TOO MUCH emphasis on where the stick needs to be pointed. you can hit home runs without even touching the stick - i did it last night with bernie williams, he took one out into the rockpile at edison field.

No one's saying you can't hit a HR without the stick. Using the stick adds to the guessing game between the pitcher and batter. If I'm looking to push the ball to right field with 2 strikes and the pitch comes inside, I have to use that split-second to react and either try to foul it off or move the stick left and go with the pitch.

I could sit there for the whole game and just swing without the stick, but that is boring, IMO.

right, it IS boring not using the stick. what i'm saying is, if people are frustrated because they're not able to hit home runs, maybe they're too concerned with having the stick in the right place and not concerned enough about making good contact on the ball / waiting for the right pitch.
