Re: The I HAVE been caught steeling thread
Well, I am not a newcomer to this board, although I rarely post on topics unless it is necessary. I do not work for EA Sports. I raised the issue about base stealing after I noticed it very early on in my playing time. For those who are saying that they are getting thrown out on a regular basis, please try this. Take a normal lead and hit the X button as soon as the pitcher starts his motion. I guarantee you that you'll be successful 99% of the time, even with very slow runners. The only way you'll be thrown out is with a GREAT catcher and a fastball that is 95mph or better. Seriously, regular lead and then hit X immediately when the pitcher starts his windup. Yes, this would be a great jump for any player. However, slow runners would still be gunned down even with relatively bad catchers. In this case, no one is thrown out on a consistent basis.
Again, from a credibility standpoint, I only post when I have found a legitimate concern. Stealing is a no brainer in this game. It is automatic, in my opinion.Comment

Re: The I HAVE been caught steeling thread
I am neither new nor a fan of EA sports (other than football games)...
I am the red sox in my franchise and stealing is too easy. I have been thrown out once in probably about 20 tries. Now that i know it's a problem I do exactly what Jim said earlier... i dont abuse it. If Johnny Damon gets on I may or may not steal, but otherwise I probably am not running (every once in a great while with Nixon, maybe). Problem solved.
I am really curious about how you guys are getting thrown out though. The one time I've gotton thrown out i knew i hit the button really late. There have been times, however, that it seemed like it would be close but the throw would come in too high. Maybe the catcher's im playing against suck.
Actually, im gonna go play around some more in exhibition mode to see whats going on.
And, for the record, I've done this on pro and all star, on medium-fast and fastest pitch speeds ... usually just by hitting X but i have experimented with the dpad method and got the same results.
Don't get me wrong about this though. IT IS NOT A GAME KILLER. Hell, I barely find it annoying. WSB is by far the best baseball game i've played and this in no way should stop anyone from playing it. But im not gonna sit here and have you guys tell people its not easy to steal... cuz it is. Hopefully there is a workaround though... or just dont abuse it.

Chuck.....I did not mean to imply that you work for EA SPORTS and I appologize if you interpreted it that way. Most of the people who claim to steal so successfully use the D PAD method.Comment

Re: The I HAVE been caught steeling thread
Dpad method always takes off at the same time... but it is not the best time. If you are manaully doing it and getting thrown out then it is your own manual error. Personally i can steal better manually than i can with the DPad... and i am anything but god's gift to videogames.
