I like the deal as well...its sad to see Gallagher go, I thought he might be a great pitcher down the road. I cant believe Beane threw Gaudin in the deal...that a huge plus.

Overall a great deal.

Wow, it just got real hot in the NL Central. One day after the Brewers get a Cy Young award winner the Cubs go out and get a future Cy Young award winner. So, this is going to be an interesting second half for baseball.

This works well for Chicago because they had been trying to trade Murton all year, Patterson has been up and hasn't showed much, and Donaldson is a young catcher but the Cubs have tons of then and Wellington Castillo will probably take Henry Blanco's spot in a year or two as the #2 catcher is Chicago. Gallagher is a good prospect and struggled some in Chicago, but you knew you'd have to trade him to get someone good. Good deal for the Cubs I think.

Chicago didn't have to give up Josh Vitters, Donnie Veal or Tyler Colvin which is a extra bonus.

Keeping Ronnie Cedano isn't bad either.
