First there are no MAJOR flaws IMO. Yes there are little quirks etc..but all games have them.
WSBB and MVP are both good games. I have played both a lot. In the end I always end up firing up MVP. The game is a blast to play, period. WSBB is a good game also but it just doesn't draw me in right now the way MVP does.
I am torn whether to keep WSBB or not at this point. I love the wall climbs etc.. in WSBB and the franchise mode. After MVP it was VERY hard to play WSBB again using the cursor. If only WSBB had a non cursor mode like HH...
I also have HH but have not opened it yet. If I do get rid of WSBB then I will possibly try HH.
    Just don't know right now.

WSB does have a non cursor mode. Change your batting preference (under team options) to timed hitting.

    <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

Please read my post again. I said it has no cursor mode like HH. I know it has a non cursor mode, but it is all timing ..no location swinging like HH....

And WSB the cursor system has got to go. I remember when there were no cursor systems back in the NES days. RBI Baseball and the one where you had the pitcher view all the time. It's not realistic and it turns hitting into moving a cursor instead of trying to drive a ball.

This is my biggest gripe with WSB - cursor batting and no good alternative to using it. With all the options and customizability in WSB you'd think they could spend a little more time giving us a good alternative to cursor hitting (if the analog stick did ANYTHING in timed-hitting, I'd be happy - some people have claimed it does but I really doubt it). Cursor hitting feels so unnatural. I think most people who have played baseball will tell you hitting is not about aiming for the ball with the bat. It's about reacting to a pitch. There's not really a conscious effort to AIM the bat, it's more muscle memory and reaction. Putting the bat on the ball happens almost subconsciously. In cursor batting I just feel like I'm focusing 100% on trying to line up my cursor with the ball. It just doesn't feel right.

Re: If youve played both, which do you prefer. MVP or WSB

I guess Im the oddball. I am enjoying both of them equally. I have a Royals and Cubs franchise going in each game for a total of 4 different franchises. I had a hard time initially getting to like MVP, but as I have improved my hitting I am really beginning to like this one.

WSB though is also just as entertaining. I like the management stuff a lot more in WSB than MVP (very weak IMO, but the milestones, and goals are very intriguing). I like the actual fielding better in WSB than MVP, but the throwing meters take the cake.

MVP gets innovation of the year with the pitching meters. That by far is an excellent addition. Neither game is a true sim, HH is still king of that. Unfortunately the sim only isnt enough to keep me playing.

I just keep finding myself playing one for a day and than swapping to the other the next day. Ive played more baseball games just since those released than I did all of last year. Victory to me in that sense for all the games in getting my interest peaked into baseball again towards a die hard level.

Going through and reading the posts above I cant understand still though how anyone thinks pitching in MVP takes any more skill than WSB. I can still put the ball where I want in MVP 99% of the time, as I can in WSB.

Its all about manipulating the meter. There is still not enough of a margin of error in any of the games for pitching EXCEPT High Heat. That is the only one that takes the randomness of pitching and actually suceeds in bringing into the game.

There is not a single pitcher in the game that could hit the spots that we as players aim for on that consistent of a basis. I think alll of the games need to increase some of the randomness of pitching. I shouldnt be able to always hit the spot I am aiming for.

WSB is a good title but feels a bit dry.

Did you try power pro hitting? With that batting option, you actually get to control how much power you put into each swing without having to hit a seperate button.
EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.

I totally agree with this. I think the pitching meter in MVP is great, but there should be some more variability in pitch location. Maybe something where if you hit dead center in the green part of the meter you'll hit your spot. If not then the pitch will be off, depending on your pitcher's accuracy rating. A pitcher's accuracy rating doesn't seem to have much, if any, impact in MVP. I actually haven't even noticed if the green part of the meter is smaller for pitchers with lower accuracy ratings. If is, its barely noticeable.

My main gripe with cursor hitting is you have to concentrate more on a cursor than the game/pitch.
I also played cursor for a long time, but it is simply old for me now.
In MVP you can try and place the ball where you want..Pull,on the ground,go with the pitch etc... and where the ball is pitched plays a big part in it. However you are swinging naturally..not watching/placing a cursor to go where pitch is going. It's just my preference now, as long as everyone is happy with what theya re playing then cool...

I've played both and for me, its clearly WSB. MVP is Triple Play with the HRs toned down. The pitch meter is great, but the game is completely determined by your skills, not the players. I didn't see what the hype was all about. The crowd noise sounds great....if you were playing the seventh game of the world series. REal croweds don't make that kind of noise at an average game. I think the noise is what makes the game fun to most. The gameplay? AI doesn't remove pitchers realistically, K problems, AI HR problems, line drive hits all lead to arcade ball. Just my take.
