        He hasn't earned that right. Even if you ignore that Rivera is the best ever and this game is in his home park, Rivera is having a much better season.

        He could very easily say "Of course I would love to close out this but Mariano has had a great year and he deserves to close it."

        Even Papelbon realized his comments were really stupid and backtracked so you don't really have to defend them.
