I agree I have been so busy tweaking the sliders the last month and waiting for rosters I haven't got to enjoy the game much, but isn't that what sliders are for Pared? If the guy drops his $50 on the game, he can own it and pretty much not only tweak it as much as he wants, but also to his liking, and if it takes a month, maybe to him it is worth it!

Unfortunately, these sliders are still taking away from the fun for me b/c I feel like I can't get them perfect, which may be impossible without using the defaults. And this seems to have happened in Football, Hockey, and Baseball this year. Now the sliders are great and I don't know if I would buy any sports game without them anymore, but damn they are owning me for the first month I have the game! I guess I am just a realism junkie and it is worth it to me to work at it until I come up with the right sliders!

Yup, you got it. They have a right to do whatever they want with a game they buy. Doesn't make sense in all cases though. Let's say he bought WSB, does that give him the right to call it the worst game ever? Yes. Is he right? .... see my point? I'm a realism junkie as well, but you can only go so far. He's screaming realism? Well how's this: the CPU hits way too much w/ the CPU BA at 37. Why do you think everyone had it on 20 before? 30 is just the appropriate balance of # of hits, hit variety, and the like. And I know with my settings it is STILL easy to K the CPU, but this year's WSB is NOT perfect, no matter how long you want to spend your days trying to fix the settings. How about stealing? And the ability to abuse the drag bunt? Don't get me started....

With all that, remember I wrote this:

That goes for many things. Do you abuse the chance to steal bases and be safe 99% of the time? I don't. Play w/i the limitations of the game. You don't really have any other choice. Give WSB another year, or MVP for that matter, and we're gonna have one hell of a baseball game to enjoy. But as for this year, with the settings I posted, that's just about as close to real as you're going to get IF YOU PLAY W/I THE GAME LIMITATIONS...

Sadly, it's similar to ASB 2002's problem of abusing the Power Swing... HR's all the time... but if you wanted to enjoy the game, don't do it! (Not to say that game was good, I hate ASB)

And I RARELY play HH anymore... I want to play, but I just can't go back... things irk me now that never were an issue to me, and I'm just frustrated w/ waiting three years for decent graphics, and looking at what they claimed was a major overhaul.

You don't seem to get the point here...if a real MLB pitcher knew that he could get 10+ Ks per game by throwing it down the middle all the time then what do you think he'll do?

Of course he'd throw it down the middle. But in reality real MLB hitters would hit something everytime knowing that a pitcher did that. I like many other are trying simulate that feel so that we wouldn't do that even if we could.

I use finesse pitching as much as the next guy, but it's better to have the CPU be "smart" instead of being manipulated. That's what seems to happen for me when CPU BA is at 30. I throw it outside and pitch with finesse all the while knowing that I can come in at any moment and strike him out. There no tension or realism in that for me.

I do agree with two things you said PAred. They did take a long to get, but I'm getting close to it, and contrary to what others think I am having fun with them

also, everyone's ability is different so in a sense there is no point trying to make the "perfect" slider settings. At the same time there is a consensus that's why I keep posting like many others.

1) As long as you are still enjoying the game, looking for some realistic sliders isn't a real distraction in my mind.

2) The challenge with the CPU batting at 37 or so is quite good. Just today, I gave up only 2 runs on 8 hits to the Angels while using my third starter. So, in other words, I had a good game- My point is that you CAN shutdown the CPU at this level.

With regards to MVP vs. HVP....There's a dilemna I've found...

-With HVP- If you play with HVP at 37 or so, you get rocked a little too often. Especially with the high # of homers in this game, you end up giving up too many runs/hit (not by much mind you). However, when lowering this slider to 30, it's much too easy to rack up K's. This to me is a huge pet peeve.

-With MVP you get a little less realism as far as being able to pinpoint your pitches. However, the ability to pitch effectively at the 37 BA range lets you avoid the SO problem.

Overall, I think I will give MVP a try again.

i agree with WSB, you need to 'fear' the hitter, that is why i like the BA at 37 or higher.

i have tried lowering the BE(s) way down, into the 30's and raising the BA up to 40-45. I also raised BE(b) up to 90-95.

i get good pitch counts, i get hit hard if i put the ball in the heart of the plate. i like the combo, but i would like so others to try this and tell me what they think

Stealing a base is something which is easy to put out of your mind..After all, you're at the plate and you have more important things to think about. Sure, you might be tempted by the "money play" but its really easy to ignore it.

However, when you're on the mound, you shouldn't have to alter your pitching to avoid a strikeout. When I was using the 30 setting, I couldn't help but strikeout too many guys. I was just pitching like I would want to realistically pitch.

Why should we have to play to the limits of the game? Why not at least try to get it perfect by continuously tweaking and posting in this topic! That play to the game stuff is bulls**t! I didn't pay $50 to play to the limits of a game, I paid $50 to play all out balls to the wall REALISTIC as possible baseball! I shouldn't have to accept the shortcomings of a game or adapt to them! I love WSB, but damn, there are problems there that are dead evident, and b/c we try to adjust them to maybe fix them a little means all of a sudden we are classified as what type of gamer? I am the type that wants my $50 worth plain and simple, and if it takes a little posting box scores and tweaking sliders while in franchise and trying different sliders, then call me a REAL gamer b/c I made the game adapt to ME! You feel me?
