    Re: Stealing: Explored

One interesting observation is that most of the people complaining about the base stealing issue generally have 50 or fewer posts. Lots of posters that have been around for the last year, HAVE ZERO problems with the base stealing. HMMMMM I will get the game soon and test the alleged base stealing problem and if it is a problem, try to find a workable solution. I will post my findings in this tread.

Haven't noticed a problem because I've been watching Mike Piazza these last few years. I thought everyone in league is allowed to steal with impunity.

If this is the same snate who has worked on the HH tunes over the past few years, I beleive him.

I don't care how many posts he has, the man is gold when it comes to tuning.

Give me a friggin break bro! What does the amount of posts have to do with anything concerning this? For somebody who doesn't have the game you have the least amount of room to talk.

For the record, I used to be on staff here and have approximately 3 times the amount of posts as you....not that it really matters.

                    look at my post count.

Stealing is way too easy. I have never been thrown out. I stole 2b with Javey Lopez against Pudge. I know, play realistic and don't steal with slow guys, but I was experimenting.

Another thing, when a guy is on first , all you do is tap "X" to steal (as long as no one else is on base). no need to do anything with the d-pad or analog.

Yes, but the cursor batting is quite tolerable. I still think HH has the best batting system to date. MVP may be catching up though.

                        -Never been caught stealing.
Biggest problem with the game. Yes, you can steal at ease in WSB, but I'm trying my dambdest to fix it

                        -Still moronic CPU running.
Pulling out the BS flag on ya here bro. No offense

-Hard to go back to this pitching and batting interface after MVP.
Played MVP today. It's pretty cool, but is way too easy so in all honestly pitches in MVP also go exactly where you want them to. Very fine first effort by EA Sports though

-Nitpicking, but I simply can't stand the faces in WSB.
I can't stand the stadiums in MVP. Do a side by side (or before/after) of say PNC park with MVP and WSB. I was baffled by the terrible looking stadiums in MVP

-Ball ever get thrown back to the pitcher in baseball games anymore?
Nope, not in WSB, not in HH, don't fuggin know about ASB, and surely not in MVP.

-When you strikeout, it shows you swinging again from a further angle?
You're stretching for complaints now bro.

-Watch the catcher catch the ball.

I took back High Heat (XBOX) today and against my better judgement picked up MVP. I totally think it's a great first effort and that EA Sports is going in the right direction with their baseball franchise. I see a lot of great things down the road for MVP and things that other titles will copy from them. It is by far one of EA Sports most innovative titles in a very long time. That being said, I have a few minor gripes about it, just as **edited out name** has a few about WSB.

                        1. Batter's speed from home to first is too slow. I know that the reason behind this is to allow for double plays because the fielders have to preload/charge up their throws and it takes time. Still, just irritating because I got thrown out at first from right field (not deep right field but still...c'mon).

                        2. Kind of relates to 1. Because you have to charge up your throw power/meter I have yet to see a fluid double play animation. 2nd baseman catches the grounder, stands there while you charge up your throw to 2nd base...short stop catches the throw....takes a second while you charge up your throwing meter and then goes into the jump throw (or whatever animation suites the situation). This is VERY FUGGIN IRRITATING TO ME.

                        3. Stadiums are worse than High Heat. Who'da that was possible.

                        4. While the piching meter is cool, it's too easy to hit the target area dead center, resulting in throwing pitches with perfect location time and time again. ( a problem that all of the baseball games seem to have)

                        5. Too easy to hit the ball exactly where you want. See them shifting the outfielders toward left, hit it down the right field line with ease.

I have more tweaking to do with this game as well and yes it is fun. However, first impressions point toward WSB as being my "sit down and get fuggin serious with" baseball title.

One thing is for sure this year. There is finally multiple baseball titles worthy of purchase so there should be something for everyone on the market this year. It's been a long time coming that baseball fans have had this many quality choices.
