Re: Thoughts On Adam Dunn?
Its like comparing Ryan Howard to Khalil Green. They both strikeout a ton, but one of them actually produces offensively (in lieu of the strikeouts).Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists AssociationComment

Re: Thoughts On Adam Dunn?
There are a ton of good, productive players who end up striking out a lot. You can say that about Adam Dunn, but you can't ignore that he also gets a lot of walks. I would take him on my team, hell, his strikeout rate fits in with the rest of the Padres not named Brian Giles.Comment

Re: Thoughts On Adam Dunn?
Ok, go ahead and put words into my mouth or just twist what I said. I never said that Dunn sucks. And there is a HUGE difference in Manny and Dunn. Fuentes isn't being traded and Teixeira may have a home.
My point was that there are some people on this forum woh support Dunn as being a "great" hitter as to which I don't. And if he was such a "great" hitter then other teams would at least be showing interest or be willing to give something to get something. But they aren't. Take that however you want.#WeAreUKComment

If it was just in regards to Dunn's offensive prowess, I'd imagine Dunn would be near the top of most of the GM's lists.Lux y VeritasComment

And THEN, you say there's a huge difference between the two. Bottom line, no there isn't. Unless you still think Manny is 32.
Fuentes is still on the board, along with about 12 other pretty good players, but teams are waiting to be blown away with offers. Guess what, it isn't happening (unless you want to get taken like LAA did)! Teams are finally learning not to give away the farm and the teams who own the stars are learning if they're going to walk in free agency they might as well pick up the compensatory draft picks (rather than take average prospects).Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists AssociationComment

Re: Thoughts On Adam Dunn?
I've had too much exposure to guys like Andruw Jones and Jeff Francoeur to tolerate the strikeout-or-HR nature of Adam Dunn. I want to be able to trust that my players can get on base and score in ways other than HRs. Not to say I wouldn't ever accept the big boppers, though. It's just my personality, I guess.Comment

Re: Thoughts On Adam Dunn?
I think the reason most teams aren't lining up to trade for Dunn is because he'd be a half-season rental, and an expensive one at that. It seems a lot of teams are shying away from making these deadline deals because they hate giving up the compensatory picks.

Re: Thoughts On Adam Dunn?
I think Dunn is a great power hitter. If you want average and few strikeouts then he's not your guy but if you can afford the strikeouts and low average and need the power then he's your man.My latest project - Madden 12 http://www.operationsports.com/forum...post2043231648Comment

Re: Thoughts On Adam Dunn?
I would just about agree with that except teams can work out a contract with him now so they don't have to go through that. If he wasn't a risk at all then there would be more teams looking at him. No biggie for me really. I am frustrated with him but if he stays then we know what we get. I personally have a love/hate thing with Dunn. :wink:Lux y VeritasComment
