Dude, if you dont like the game, fine, but quit trying to rain on other people's parade. How much abuse do you take by continually playing and talking about a game that you obviously dont enjoy?

Just move on and forget about this board bro. I am sure we are all very happy that whatever game you picked is the true winner, and us poor schmucks are left playing an inferior product in our rubber rooms. ( whatever THIS means)

AI you have the nerve to make a statement like that when all you have done is go to EVERY thread of all the other games to point out it's flaws. What really makes it "trollish" is you have no idea what you are talking about with half of them.
And just so you get an education: I am not trying to sell him on the game but mearly letting him know how the meters work in MVP. I could care less if he plays it or not. I was just giving correct information. Try it sometime.

Redbird who ever said timing the meter right would let ANYONE throw the perfect pitch? That would be idiotic.

I can only compare it to Home Run King since I haven't played MVP, but the only thing the meter does is to allow the pitcher to maximize his POTENTIAL, and that factors in fatigue and playing ability. So if a guy can throw 92mph tops while fresh, there's no way he'll throw that fast late in the game even if you time the meter perfectly. Same goes for accuracy I'd assume.

If you can't even grasp the THEORY behind how it might be a good idea then you owe it to yourself to at least give it a try. This "no meters" philosophy is effectively a decree for "no skill". All you want is tactics (which corner to pitch to, which base to throw to). According to that philosophy you should have auto fielding turned on. Do you? Probably not.

Skyboxer I think you're right on with everything you say about the meter. And Redbird, I'm a long time high heat player (and am very much enjoying HH2004) and just rented MVP on a whim to see the new system, thinking I'd hate it, and I really like it a lot. And it really does make a difference if the pitcher sucks because then the meter is so small it's hard to get good accuracy on it, and that's also true when your pitcher is tired.

So don't knock it 'til you've tried it. I was sure I was going to hate it and I am having a lot of fun playing MVP.

I dont see how you think the pitching/batting in this game is superior to anything else...have u played MVP?....at least you have to really participate in the gameplay to achieve results...In HH, its just aim to a section and throw. Very simplified if you ask me compared to some other games, especially MVP. But I do think HH plays more realistic baseball on the field other than that....it just feels like the engine is so old and there isnt much in terms of animation variety. Every play seems to only have one type of animation...it starts to feel very repetitive over time which makes the game feel a bit stale to me.

But Im trying to like it

I do not want a baseball game like MVP where I can rack up 20 to 30 hits per game, I want a challenging game. The batting in HH 2004 can be made MUCH more challenging than that of MVP which is timing only. Another problem with MVP is that the pitch counts are too low. MVP is a game best for casual gamers at partys...HH 2004 is for the hard core baseball fan. I want realism when I play baseball.

lightning, you don't rack up that many hits in a game in MVP. I have played now over 40 games and the most I've had was around 15 or so just a couple times. I even threw a 1 hitter with Pettite, so the CPU is not a hit machine either.

I just finished a game 5 minutes ago where Matt Morris gave up 5 hits in 7 innings to the Astros with 5 strikeouts and I won the game 2-1. I had 10 hits in the game to the CPU's total of 7. Not sure where people get the impression that it's hit crazy.

But why are we talking about MVP in the HH forum?

"Redbird who ever said timing the meter right would let ANYONE throw the perfect pitch? That would be idiotic."

I guess I just assumed that by reading the previews. I did read that if you didn't time the pitch right that the pitch would be a dead bird with some sort of a graphical warning that it was a bad pitch that if timed right with the hitting cursor you could nail it. So is it the opposite then 9if you dont button mash correctly you will throw a hanging curve ball or groove one down the middle?

"I can only compare it to Home Run King since I haven't played MVP, but the only thing the meter does is to allow the pitcher to maximize his POTENTIAL, and that factors in fatigue and playing ability. So if a guy can throw 92mph tops while fresh, there's no way he'll throw that fast late in the game even if you time the meter perfectly. Same goes for accuracy I'd assume."

That is good that the pitcher has fatigue but that isnt a new innovation.

"If you can't even grasp the THEORY behind how it might be a good idea then you owe it to yourself to at least give it a try."

I can grasp how the idea might be good.

"This "no meters" philosophy is effectively a decree for "no skill"."

What skill? Button mashing/releasing? I have never seen meters in the MLB.

"All you want is tactics (which corner to pitch to, which base to throw to). According to that philosophy you should have auto fielding turned on. Do you? Probably not."

Actually tactics and simulation that doesnt feature my skill over the players skill. Auto fielding? You found me out

I would like to give it a try but out here in the sticks I cant run out and rent the game. Remember I live in AR now! City boy moved to the country. I live in one of the biggest towns around and has a population of 600+! Many of the folks around here only play video games in a town 30 miles away at Walmart!
