    Homeruns: The Truth

After getting frustrated by by not seeing too many homeruns and this post, it was time for a little Stat Check reality.

I made a post earlier that the majors hit a homerun around 1.4 times a game.

What we should be seeing is a homerun a game on average. If you hit 4 homers a game then have a cold streak it even's things out a bit. I think MVP is low but definately not so low it's silly.

Here's some team stats from MLB STATS.

The Rangers had 230 homeruns...the most in the league.
Detriot hit 124...the fewest in the league.

The Rockies often thought as having the most potent games for themselves and opponents at home. Home BA .313 (1st) and opponents .284 (2nd...KC was 1st).

And for some of the more potent hitters in the game.

    Bonds in 2002 had a 8.8 HR/AB percentage with 46
    Thome had 9.2 w/52 homers
    A-Rod had 10.9 w/57
    Bonds in 2001 w his 73 had a 6.5.

Just some things to ponder at with MVP.

I'm personally probably giving up a homerun every 6 games. The CPU seems anemic to me but then again I've had a rash of very low scoring games.

JRod try mixing your pitches. Don't paint the corners all the time. Throw pitches down the middle of the plate once in a while. Baseball is a guessing game. Pitchers will try to out guess the batter and vice versa.

I too haven't seen many homeruns. Although this is a problem with the game it's not a game killer. I can overlook it for now. But next year they need to address this.

Are you playing in pitcher's view, without the cursor or vibration. That makes it a lot harder to pitch.

Here are my HR stats. I have played 13 games and am playing on Pro (I would move up to All-Star but my team is only 4-9 right now =().

HR's give up: 2 - (one by Affeldt and one by Asencio)

            Team Hr's:
            Ibanez - 5
            Sweeney - 2
            Beltran - 1

Sexson is leading the league w/ 9 dingers and Bonds is in 2nd place w/ 7.

The one thing you can maybe try to do is, look at the pitch coming in and when you see it highlight in red, it means it's in your red zone. Swinging away will give you a better chance of hitting a homerun.

Im having no problems hitting homers...in fact, I think hitting homers in this game is more realistic than any other game I ever played...it doesnt feel as random...you really have to work for it and get the right pitch applied with the right type of swing to jack one...it feels very good.
