maybe i've been playing games for too long, but when i played games like WSB 95' and asb 2000 I didn't have to change anything and it seemed perfect, that's the point of this post. Same thing with madden 2003, nhl/nba 2k3, each needs too much screwing with the sliders instead of playing the actual product.
ahhh, why do all of sega's games take effort to make them good??

Re: ahhh, why do all of sega\'s games take effort to make them good??
The only problem with sliders is that there aren't enough of them. Every sports game should have sliders so you can tweak and tune the game for your own enjoyment. Then games don't have to fall into broad categories like "arcade" and "sim"--they can be different things to different people. Take MVP Baseball, for example. Now I love this game, but I just won't buy it because there are no sliders, and the game desperately needs them. I think the future of video games is inextricably entertwined with customizability, but, of course, customizability presupposes some dedication on the part of the gamer.Comment

I agree with the above post, sports games should give the user the option to tweak it to your tastes...even though it can be a pain to burn up precious time doing so. Hell, I'm still tweaking Madden, after 8 months of play! MVP almost had my money, based on posts in this forum, and the movies...but when I discovered that there were no sliders, (plus two distinct problems) I decided against it. MLB 2004 is the same... visually good looking game, does a lot of the little things right, but no way to adjust CPU ai. this is why, hopefully, I'l have WSB in my hot little hands tommorow!!Comment

Yeah, maybe its why I'm more forgiving since I've played so many truly crappy games in the 25 years or so of video gaming. I really do think ppl get too focused on little things when the overall game is darned tootin' good.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

Re: ahhh, why do all of sega\'s games take effort to make them good??
I guess people just demand more realism because the companies at one point tried to make it more real. I still remember bases loaded being my all time favorite bball game.
oh well, gotta learn to move with the times, heh.Comment

Re: ahhh, why do all of sega\'s games take effort to make them good??
After the tweaking though, Sega IMO makes the sports games in the world! If the ends justifies the means, I'll take the first two days to tweak a game. All games should have sliders, Sega does an excellent job with their sliders, especially in all of their 2k3 series! It also gives people less excuses to bitch about some things they can manually fix, which makes it more than worth it for them to add sliders.Comment

Re: ahhh, why do all of sega\'s games take effort to make them good??
Jordan,
Agreed. If you got the game just the way it came out of the box and couldn't make adjustments it certainly wouldn't allow for personal comfort zones with the games. I have spent a week tweaking WSB. Glad I was able to do it.Comment
