    Jordan,

Agreed. If you got the game just the way it came out of the box and couldn't make adjustments it certainly wouldn't allow for personal comfort zones with the games. I have spent a week tweaking WSB. Glad I was able to do it.

    <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

Perfect example of patience paying off! I think a lot of people write a game off after a day simply b/c they don't take the time to get deep up into the game and tweak it to their preference. I think if you drop $50 on a new game, especially one you have been anticipating, you should at least give it a week to decide whether you keep it or not. There are things in games now that you might not see until you have played it for weeks, especially in sports games. No game is going to satisfy EVERYONE'S personal tastes straight out of the box. Maybe Baseball Stars, Bases Loaded, and RBI, or old school WSB from the 90's.

Which brings me to something in another post about us 30+ gamers. We have been playing video games since Pong, Atari, Intellivision and such, so we know the real definition of a terrible looking, terrible playing game on a terrible system is. Younger kids have been playing games since Genesis and N64, and PS1, so they expect the games now to be perfect while a lot of us older folk are content with little problems in games, especially graphical indifferences b/c we have watched video games evolve from games like Combat on Atari to Halo on Xbox. I remember the first baseball game on the NES was so bad, all of the outfielders moved together, and that was only 17 years ago. Now you can pick a players earrings and tattoos and bling-bling platinum medallion, and how big the rims are on his whips! I don't have a problem with that at all, but when people start bitching about John Doe's real stance not being in a game after his sorry *** hit .220 last year is ridiculous. Give me Bases Loaded with Baseball Stars created team and HR robbing abilities, a tiny graphical upgrade to next gen systems and my man Paste from Boston, and I am as happy as the kid I was when I was 15 playing bases loaded.

Yeah I remember those Atari and NES baseball games. We've got so many options nowadays, but we forget that it many games back then it was more like, "You wanna play the game or don't ya?" Those were your only two options

Jordan said it, and speaking of the Atari, anyone remember the ol' Realsports Atari Baseball and Football? Man I played the crap out of both of those games, like 10 hours a day sometimes just on and on.

I remember being so excited with Realsports baseball being the first baseball game to have the accurate number of baseball players instead of just the pitcher and 2 other ppl (or if it didn't have accurate then it had alot more). Same goes for football. The funny thing is i've gone back and played some old games thru emulators and I find them horrid now. I guess i'm so spoiled now. LOL!

Yeah, we like to go back and remember the good old days. But most of the time if you play some of those old games you used to like, they just don't seem the same any more, especially for sports games.

But of course, some of them will never lose their luster.

I too have tried to bring back the memories with emulators and it just doesn't feel the same as it did when I was a care-free kid playing those games against my friends and getting into fistfights over some sorry arse Atari football game b/c he had the joystick with the black cover missing

Obviously kids now would laugh at those games, but had it not been for those games, we would be playing crochet or lawn darts or some s**t! I will never forget the day I got Atari, or my NES on Christmas, or stood in line for 10 hours to cop my PS2. Gaming is a wonderful release and stress reliever that I have been enjoying for 20+ years and now it is funny to watch my daughter get into her little Gameboy with the same agression I did when I was her age. We as gamers have become spoiled and now expect a perfect product every time and that is just not going to happen. Do your homework, know exactly what you are dropping $50 on and make sure you listen to YOU, not Joe Poster from some forum unless you know his tastes are exactly alike! Great time to be a gamer!

On a side note, I am having a great time playing WSB, wasn't overly impressed with last year's, but IMO, Sega did a hell of a lot to improve this year's version and it has paid off. The AI is much better and more aggressive. I am still tweaking, but I love the overall package WSB brings! I am still holding onto HH2004 until I give both a couple of weeks to impress!

Still, we pay $50 annually for these games. Now I expect, certain things to be in nowadays no matter what since in 1993, games had manual jumping/diving, bullpen warmup's, and full home run trots. With all the power of these systems there is no excuses, yet every year we see the some game missing something. It's not my fault you were too lazy the previous years so you had to rewrite your crappy code. I didn't see crazy bugs where if you throw to first it goes to home, or a run counts when the ball is caught for the third out. Many of the games yesteryear have smoother fielder interfaces than today's games. Or my game didn't lock up every second UNLESS i abused it. I thought triple play 98' had scaling players. i thought by now companies would realize hr cinema's completely ruin the drama, now every game has them basically. So that's what I expected to be the case, but look what happened to acclaim and sega when they went next-gen...total crap for 3 years straight.(DC and PS2). Oops i almost forgot EA somehow they're streak was 5 years. and nowadays more companies do things like graphics and features than gameplay. The only company that doesn't is 3DO, and there game gets the least amount of respect. to each there own i guess.
