How does ASB compare to real baseball?

Is it pretty accurate? I played 2003 version and it seemed like there was always WAY too many hits and homers. I find it a little odd when 20 games in a seaon I had already so many homers in those games that some people average in a single season. Did this get fixed this time around?

YES, I am playing a season with my Mariners and my statistics are VERY realistic. I played multiple seasons last year and tore it up as far as statistics go...far more challening this time around.

yes, very accurate stats. HR's are toned way down. In my season, the HR leader at the all star break was Barry Bonds with 30.

I think it's very realistic. The ERAs are a little lower I think, because there aren't as many home runs as we've been seeing in real baseball the past few years, which I like. It makes HR hitters more valuable.

I'm playing with the Giants and at the All-Star break Bonds has 20 HRs (and 100 BBs!). I also traded for Griffey before the season and he's been miserable (.251, 11 HRs and injuries ), so it would only be more realistic if he started whining about how he's under-appreciated. Maybe in ASB 2005.

Re: How does ASB compare to real baseball?

                        The stats are VERY realistic.

I am 26 games into my franchise with the Braves. I have played every game so far, just don't want to sim any at this time.

Here are some highlights so far:

                        - My record is now 14-12, 2 games behind the Mets. I am in the middle of a 5 game win streak.

                        - I have drawn 118 walks.

                        - My team batting average is LOW and K's are very high right now. Reason is it took me about 15 games to really get used to hitting with the cursor (classic). I still strike out a good bit on ace pitchers.

                        - I have hit 8 homers with Chipper Jones. 6 with Javy Lopez. Both players lead the team with 14 rbi. I also have 10 stolen bases with Furcal.

My team ERA is a bit low, hovering in the 2's but I don't have a dominant pitcher. Smoltz has 10 saves.

                        - some league stats: High average is around .400, 4 guys are tied for the league lead with 8 homers. Jeff Kent leads with 27 rbi.

All in all, Im still loving this game. Like I said, it took me about 15 games to really get used to the cursor. On my current 5 game hitting streak I am slowly but steadily raising my team batting average and individual averages back to respectability. I have had several 6-10 run games and have had a season high 14 hit game. As far as home runs go, I have had many games with ZERO HR and I have had a couple where i've jacked 4-5. It really depends on the opposing pitcher and his fatigue, and whether or not he is grooving them down the middle or hanging a curveball. I've also hit at least 5 of my teams 30ish HR that barely cleared the wall (no cutscene).

                            Also of note:

I am near the league leaders in doubles. Robert Fick has 9.

Rafael Furcal leads the league with 10 triples. I also hit my first HR with him last night in game number 26. A 3 run blast to left center at Minute Maid off Wade Miller.

Interestinlgy in that game, Wade Miller came in with 4 wins and a .68 ERA. I chased him with 7 runs in 4 innings to double his ERA. The relief pitcher came in and promptly gave up a HR to Andruw Jones. Next pitch he threw at Fick's head and FICK was ejected for charging the mound. Houston ended up getting 2 relief pitchers thrown out after that for challenging inside. So, they burned Shane Reynold, Dotel AND Wagner in a losing effort. Can't wait to play the other 2 games of the series, should make it a bit easier with a tired bullpen.
