    Can someone answer these questions?

I'm very curious about purchasing MVP. I already have WSB, HH, and ASB and it looks like WSB and MVP are almost neck and neck among posters so before I purchase I just neet some questions answered.

I know the pithcer/batter interface is dope but:

    1. Does you or the CPU throw a realistic number of walks?

    2.Same with Ks.

3.Is there a good variety of hits? (grounders, pop-ups, bloop singles, shots down the line, etc.)

    4. Is there a nice variety of foul balls?

    5. How is the CPU baserunning AI?

6.How bad is this so called tag bug?

    7. Are there a realistic amount of errors?

8.What are your comments about the season/franchise?

9.Would you reccomend MVP to a stat freak/sim nut, such as myself?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Re: Can someone answer these questions?

    1. You can only throw as many walks as you want to / When batting you have to be patient.

    2. Takes a lot of practice to be able to throw Ks. / CPU will strike you out--if you swing at everything you'll probably hit the ball (doesn't mean you'll get a hit)--play with strikezone off.

    3. yes

    4. yes

    5. good.. agressive when need be, conservative when need be

    6. from my experience, haven't had it happen yet

    7. The actual errors happen, only thing is not all of them are scored as errors.

    8. Only 9 games in so far.

    9. It depends, IMO other games I think the AI mathematically controls what happens so that results are accurately "simulated" to real life. I feel that in MVP, I am in more control of my success and/or failure.

What about all the line drives I've been reading about? Are there really so many? If this is true, how many groundballs are you seeing? I've also heard that the pitchers are very good at snagging these line drives. Is this true as well? I know that might not be a killer, but it does seem that infield play would be made a whole lot easier (almost automatic).

There are quite a few line drives in the game but I would'nt say that it kills it. Also some groundballs end up looking like line drives to an infielder. What happens is the ball is drove into the dirt and bounces up simulating a line drive. This has hurt me a few times because I was thinking that my player just caught a line drive and I did'nt throw to first. There are way to many ground balls like this in the game. VERY UNREALISTIC IMO !!! Some of these off the dirt into a line drive look like a raising line drive heading to the outfield. A check of the replay feature will clearly show how the hit occured.

If you have a lot of variety in the way you pitch, there will be a lot of variety in the way the ball comes off the bat.

I understand that checkmate, but I don't buy into all of the hard hit singles that bounce off the dirt like it was a trampoline

Re: Can someone answer these questions?

CheckMate pretty much summed it up. I would also like to add that stealing a base is a B!TCH! Have to get a good lead, have a fast runner AND get a good pitch to steal on. Otherwise you're meat...

                            Anyways here are my answers:

                            1. Does you or the CPU throw a realistic number of walks?
Yes. But for you to throw walks ..you have to throw balls.
                            Nibbling on corners etc..
                            CPU will walk you.

                            2.Same with Ks.
K's are hard to come by. Th most I've gotten was 8 by Pettite. When I played that game though I was so pumped that I reached 8. You have to pitch smart, out of the zone at times and mix things up.

3.Is there a good variety of hits? (grounders, pop-ups, bloop singles, shots down the line, etc.)
Yes. There are a slight few too many line drives BUT it all goes hand in hand to how you pitch.

                            4. Is there a nice variety of foul balls?
                            YES

                            5. How is the CPU baserunning AI?
                            Very good IMO.

6.How bad is this so called tag bug?
Not to bad . Only happens occasionally but is annoying when it does. It helps to immediately take control of fielder when they catch the ball. Something that EA needs to tweak. All it is , is a late /slow reacting animation.

                            7. Are there a realistic amount of errors?
More so on Pro level than All Star.

8.What are your comments about the season/franchise?
Not real deep but just enough. The ticker at bottom of screen is cool. You see the days games and the days transactions. The CPU will offer you trades etc...
So it is a good start but not as deep as other games.

9.Would you reccomend MVP to a stat freak/sim nut, such as myself? hard to tell. If you are looking for total realism etc... then it might not be for you. However if you want(for me at least) the most fun game..MVP is for you. AS CheckMate said..The stats are up to you, not the "Calculator" in the game...
