Re: Just pure frustration with pitcher subs
It should be fixable for next year, yes but that's not the point. That means I have to wait a year for something that they did wrong this year.
I know that patches are frowned upon but I think they are a neccesity given the climate of the producers. Every game sports game release in the last 2 years needed to have some sort of patch, NFL 2k3 and sacks. Madden, NCAA 2003, NHL 2k3 and so forth.
I like the game now but it seems silly that I should have to wait a year to just be able to play it correctly.Comment

Thats what everyone was saying before the game even came out. That it'll prolly be bugs that will ruin it for a first year efford.http://neverfollow.biz (Independent Music Group)Comment

Re: Just pure frustration with pitcher subs
I was thinking about picking this game up in addition to WSB (which I love but i have issues with) but this thread is making me think otherwise. This is exactly the type of stuff that drives me nuts in sports games.
Do companies not test their games anymore? Or do their testers just not understand baseball?
It seems to me that every single baseball game released this year needed someone who actually understood baseball to play it for VERY SIMPLE improvements to be made and have the games be great. Now, what we end up with is 3 different and good games that all have glaring holes in them.
I swear, if I was one of these companies I would hire myself.

I'm not confused. If the opposing pitcher (cpu) is getting hammered in the first inning then it does make sense for the cpu to sub. I've played well over 30 games now and haven't seen the cpu sub a pitcher in the first few innings without giving up any runs.
But I do agree that the cpu does sub a bit prematurely. It really also depends on who is pitching and what their stamina is. Look at the attributes for each pitcher and notice how long each of them stay in the game. (Again this depends on whether their giving up any runs or not.)
You guys are over exaggerating this problem. it's not a big issue for me.

Sorry it was my fault to post something before getting the complete answer. But i didnt know until after the game. E. Loiaza did indeed get pull after 2/3 of an inning and about maybe 10-15 pitches and all it said was that he was being substituted for a reliever. At the end of the game i went over to league news and found out that he was injured for ten days for a pulled groin. But like i said i am sorry for the confusion but i didnt know either.Comment

The companies and people that work in the business say they spend endless hours testing. I don't doubt that but I don't understand how the simple things in sports games are done so wrong. I really have to question in these testers undertand the games or are they the same testers that say test Ultima and BF 1942. If they are then no wonder.
I don't understand how the companies get the simple things wrong.Comment
