Ok ol school time, I love these posts. I used to play the "Intelevision" baseball game back in the day. Great game, but my cousin always kicked my butt. Then there was RBI baseball for the original nintendo, I think the first version had 9 teams or something wierd like that. My friends and I would come home after school and play tournaments. There would be 3 of us, so the odd guy out controled the score book we took from our team. I also loved the Tony Larussa series on the Nintendo, the year Shef almost had a triple crown, back when 30 hrs was a lot. Then came the Hardball series and Al Michaels called the games, I loved it. Then Tony LaRussa for the pc started to really shine, I think 96 was the beginning of the good years, then came Old Time BB. The FPS BB was great as well. I could go on and on. I am just babbling now, tomany games in my time. I think overall, the most fun I has was either RBI II or III, not sure, but I tossed two no no's in a world series against my friend. One of the pitchers was Ron Darling, gotta love those Mets. Anywho, I played more console/pc games, that was just off the top of my head.

Seriously, I think that games back then got more out of the technology that was available than that of today. Today, companies just set a budget and stick to it (or try to), usually only getting so far into the development of a game before they have to stop.

I think someone else mentioned as to why bro. We had 2 options back then, play the game, or dont play the game. There was no place to whine as there is today on the net. Most people figured playing video games was the equivalent of having toys, so no one cared.

All that has changed though, and in some way i dont think its for the better.

The other day I downloaded RBI Baseball for my XMame....all the players in the outfield moved at the same time, and the stadium looked like someone put a cigar box on the screen and drew an outline of it and made that the walls of the stadium. I'll tell you one thing, though. I had far more fun with that game then I have with the games coming out now :/

How do you feel about players today not being considered great home run hitters unless they have 50-60 homeruns? I think it's sickening, with the state of the game today Soon we'll have MLW (Major League Wiffleball).

What's really sickening is that guys like Dale Murphy will never get into the Hall of Fame because 398 homeruns is no longer considered a feat. Shoot, 5 foot 2nd baseman are hitting more per year nowdays than he did. Guys from the 80s are getting screwed because they were between homerun happy eras.
