i seemed to have risen alot of emotion in so shot of time, BUT it looks like we might hae a convert in maybe he'll rent it and give us a honest open minded view when he can really to a proper comparison, as for HBBFAN - he's hopeless , to the moderator Heelfan71, since you have palyed both games (right) and it seems you lean toward ASB on this question, did ASB put more of whats really important to have a great Franchise mode or did WSB approach do it better. and why. thanks

Theorhetical gripes about icon pros/cons aside, The testical tightening tension of having men in position and absolutely KNOWING the big curve is coming will always be exponentially increased by the degree of difficulty it takes to hit it. There is no other way to explain this. When I get a meaningful hit on WSB I say "yeah, good hit, I needed that." no big deal. But when you get a meaningful hit on ASB, man it evokes REAL emotion. Before you get the hang of All-Star, you can feel the frustration in the pit of your stomach. It makes you snap at your girl. It makes you swear at the TV, swear at the controller, swear at the pitcher. Just gets you pissed off. Deep down. Nearly everyone who ever picked up an ASB has felt this. AWWWWWW but the bliss of smashing a hanging curve( I HATE that[censord]Uncle charlie, that SOB is the bane of my very existence )when the game is on the line to me cannot be duplicated by any of these games.

<font color="red">Of course ASB could be better, all the titles could. But no other title this year can come close, not anywhere NEAR the emotional investment ASB brings to the ballpark. Gotta' love it. </font>

My sentiments exactly. ASB recreates the feeling of actually BATTING because it can make you look foolish if you start guessing spots and pitches. There's nothing like having the bases loaded with a 3-2 and have a knee-buckling slider or curve ball hit the corner as you stand there looking.

With WSB, the cursor is so FAST that you can reach just about anything in the strike zone. The only tension in that game to me is whether im going to get a hit or pop the ball straight up. Those are the only 2 things that really seem to happen.

Hmm, so they are too lazy to learn the interface in ASB so therefore it sucks? Give me a break, they obviously did not even attempt to dig into the franchise mode in ASB. I am cancelling my IGN insider account after this year. Every year they piss me of with their baseball reviews.

I honestly don't understand all the ASB hate. I have owned and played both last years and this year's versions of ASB and WSB. I just happen to enjoy ASB a lot more than WSB this year. That doesn't mean I hate WSB, hell i still play the game some. But there always seems to be hate towards ASB from the people that don't like it and those of us that do like it get labeled "fanboys".

It's just shocking to me that people want REAL baseball, yet one of the first thing you see people complain about is "the game takes too long" or "it is too hard to hit".

I'm an ASB fan converted WSB fan. I've got nothing much bad to say about either game, but there are few things in each franchise, that I like better.
WSB: Coaching staff, they directly affect the progress of your players, and you can go to your manager to view potential trade offers. The free agent point system actually makes sense! To see whats missing, look below
ASB: All above mentioned... rule 5, waivers, future stadium what not. Some missing things though are of course a point system that makes sense, you can't view player potential (I don't recall such a thing anyway). They do have a some sort of coaching staff type thing, but you can't change anything about it during the season. You can fire any coaches you want mid-season in WSB

Depends what you like, the waiver system can be annoying, but it is realistic as in real life. ASB has a very slight franchise edge. I personally like WSBs gameplay better though. I love WSB, but I still really like ASB.
