The answer is this guys - make sure that your payroll is less than your projected income. If this is the case, your team will start accumulating cash as you are turning a profit since your payroll is smaller than your total revenue for the year. Obviously, the rate at which you accumulate budget points depends on how big the gap is between your payroll and expected income. Example: The Yankees who have a total payroll of 740 BP and an expected income of 850 BP will gain BP faster than a team like the A's who have a payroll of 287 and an expected income of 296. There you have it - and doing well in your season will increase your expected income, which in turn, will increase the rate at which you gain BP in your bank account, provided that you don't increase your payroll a lot.

Re: How do you get out of the negative bank deficient(sp?)
Bank is basically just your accumulated cash. You get money after every game, and you pay your players after every game (to simplify things). If you are paying more than you're making per game, your bank will go down. If you are making more than you are paying, your bank will go up. So to get your bank out of the negative, you have to trade a player (you have to eat part of the salary if you want to cut a player, and since you have no money, you can't), get your payroll under your income, and play through some games. If you're negative at the end of the season....tough luck, no re-signings for you, welcome to the world of Billy Beane.
Moral of the story: avoid making your payroll bigger than your income.Comment
