When I first got the game, I used the 'timed hitting' at the Pro level. I was getting WAY too many hits, plus I was striking out the CPU too much. I then went to a mdium cursor and 'pitch preview'...messing around with CPU pitch speed. Still too many hits and runs. ..went to small and very small curser with pitch preview on Pro, and custom sliders. I had some competitive games, but I scored WAY too much still. I have now gone to curser batting with no pitch preview and the pitch speed set to med. or fast. In two games, I have hit one HR with Sammy (grand slam...ultimately won the game). basically, you have to 'pick' a 'zone' and hope a pitch goes there because you don't have enough time to react and move the cursor around once the pitch is thrown. I seem to be getting a lot of singles, but not a lot of extra base hits (yet). My scores in these games were more realistic as well: 3-2 (in 18 innings) and 5-4.
Basically, to get HR with cursor batting, you have to basically pick an area for each pitch wait for it...you can react, but you won't get a HR that way, usually only singles and the like. at least that's been my experience.
