Re: Manage only - power vs contact

    Ugh...
My very first game after my last post above, I felt that the tide began to trun. Through 7 innings, playing in Puerto Rico against the Expos, the Reds were leading 4-0 and had collected 11 hits (although no HRs).

Then my game froze during during the Visit Mound sequence.

Of all the luck. Guess I'll just have to try again.

Generally what I do when I first pick up a new baseball game is to play an entire season and try diligently to play all 162 games myself (in the case of ASB04, on MO Mode) to see just how true to life that outcomes can be. Then through the late fall--winter I begin more of a "fantasy-franchise mode."

        More Manage-Only Observations

Well, it appears that I'm getting no where in my search to find ways to generate more offense in MO.
I decided to "tweak" the ratings of each of my position players. I focused primarily on Hitting, Power and Patience and raised them mostly two-thirds of a letter grade( i.e. in some cases a B- became a B+.....a C became a B-)
In a few rare exceptions I went a full letter grade.
I was cautious in that I didn't want to create a situation where I was generatin too much offense.

Well....I've proceeded to extend the losing streak to 15 with no more homers. I am now 3-19, have hit 5 homeruns, and possess a team BA of .197.

The next step, it appears, is to drastically raise each of my player's ratings, but I am very pessimistic about the results. I'm wondering if anyone has tried this? I thought I'd ask to save me a little time if it is inconsequential as I think it will be.

MO is not becoming fun and I wish there was something I could do to change it.

I suppose I may have to get off my butt, warm up my thumbs, and play the game some other way without MO.

        Sigh........

Yes, unfortunately for me, the repetitiveness of the punchless offense has led me to play the game less and less after a month and a half. Although there are times the offense plays like it should, overall there's only so many low scoring affairs between terrible pitchers for me to stomach. Really, all the guys at Acclaim Austin have to do is bump this up and they have an ABSOLUTE winner for next season. That and get some great pitchers to develope in the fantasy draft... less great Corner Outfielders.
