    One day after GM Jim Hendry said he wouldn't be back, Kerry Wood said staying with the Cubs was his first choice and he would have considered a one-year deal.
    "It’s bittersweet. Obviously this is my first choice. I wanted to stay here and the best choice for me and my family," he said. "But that’s part of baseball right now."

      i agree all around.

      there are lots of reasons to keep Wood and Ceda. Why take Gregg when Ceda projects to be major-league quality? Especially since the cubs aren't really hurting for quality in the pen.

      They didn't want to pay Wood multi-year money...I understand it is a business...maybe it was the right move, though. He had a great year as a closer, but always seemed on the brink of disaster.
