Thank you Greg. Thank you for your poise, your calm, your knowledge of the game. Thank you for relying on your smarts rather than your stuff. It's going to be sad to not be able to watch your mastery anymore.

Best of a generation, and one of the best of all-time.
Funny that you used the word "calm" to describe Maddux. If you have ever sit near the mound when he pitched I'm not sure if you would use that word. TBS had to remove or turn down the microphones near home plate whenever he pitched because Maddux besides being a master of the art of pitching was a master of the use of the four letter word.

My favorite pitcher of all-time. The game just will not be the same for me now that he is no longer playing.

LMAO. Very true. The irony is interesting.

I agree. I believe that Smoltz will be back next year if he feels he can compete. He really pitched great the first month or so last year before he went on the DL. He still has dominant stuff, and if he can get/stay healthy I think he can have a good season.

Glavine on the other hand just doesn't seem to be the pitcher he used to be. He really seemed to struggle last year and I just don't get the vibe that he'll be coming back.
        Now, more than ever

Article in today's Atlanta newspaper was very encouraging about Smoltz after his first throwing session.

Not the exact link, but I'm sure you can find it if you want to read it...
