Re: Official Pirates Thread
Hey man, outs are outs... fly balls work AND keep the pitch counts low... Benson'll be better off being an economic pitcher and going for the pop-outs and groundouts like he did yesterday.
Oh, and I found it Pitt... I had forgot that I had it on my AM presets in my car from last year. I was listening from like the 4th inning until the 7th when I got home... Benson hadn't let a single hit since the 3rd inning at that point... I was really impressed.Comment

Right now I have more faith in D'Amico than I do in Suppan...“In my lifetime, we've gone from Eisenhower to George W. Bush. We've gone from John F. Kennedy to Al Gore. If this is evolution, I believe that in twelve years, we'll be voting for plants.” - Lewis BlackComment

Re: Official Pirates Thread
Fogg scares me a little too. He was rocked last year down the stretch and he didn't do very hot in spring training. Even though Spring training means nothing he still had a 5.00+ ERA this year.
Suppan will most likely be just an inning-eater, he won't be phenominal, nor will he go 1-15. He will provide a steady arm every 5th day.
On the offensive side Kenny Loften should be watched espically later in the season. At age 36 the months of August and September could be rough on him. They should also try to work Craig Wilson in every once in a while because all the time sitting on the bench could have an ill effect on the spark he brings to the team.
The most underatted part of the Pirates may be their bullpen. With Sauberbeck and Willaims the Pirates can usually turn a one run lead in the 8th into a win. The only problem is getting a one run lead.
The Pirates are doing a good job of signing vetrens till their prospects in the minor leagues are ready. With these additions it is a very real possibillity that the Bucos can finish above .500 for the first time in a decade. All that left to say is LET'S GO BUCS!!!!!!!Comment
