    Re: Best Up and Comer?

Mat Gamel (brewers) if they find a position for him..good hitter, defensive liability
Alcides Escobar (brewers) would be the best defensive short stop in the league if he was up now
Matt LaPorta (Indians) could be an exceptional hitter, defensive liability, could play 1st, OF, or catch but more likely DH
Colby Rasmus (Cardinals) will be great

        Tommy Hanson
        Jason Heyward
        Elvis Andrus (TEX)
Nate McClouth (I don't think we've seen his full potential yet.)

Oh, and Kelly Johnson is the best second baseman, lol.

                Obviously your a Reds fan

I wouldn't quite put Stubbs in there as a top up and commer around the league. Alonso has talent but of course has yet to play a full season with a wooden bat

As Much as I hate the yankees that Gardner guy seems pretty decent if he focused hard he could be an all star, and is he ever fast

                    Re: Best Up and Comer?

Wow...4 pages and no one has mentioned Chris Davis??

I mean really, some of the players listed here won't even sniff the majors this year.
An "up and comer" is someone who is on the verge of being a stud now; someone that will play full time in the majors THIS year.

The three big breakouts in 2009:

                    Chris Davis, Texas
                    David Price, TB
                    Justin Upton, Arizona

As for Kinsler being the best at 2b...truer words have never been spoken.

And I hate the Rangers FWIW.

                      Re: Best Up and Comer?

Good god do I pray that Pedro Alvarez and Andrew McCutchen don't get ruined by the Pirates horrendous farm system. Both are hugely talented, most scouts believe Alavrez's bat could already be MLB ready. They could be the guys to finally bring the Pirates back, until the Nuttings further destroy the franchise.

But it's really just wishful thinking, the Pirates are probably the worst drafting team in baseball, making senseless picks every year, and then ruining the picks they do get. I have little to no faith in them at all by this point.

I would say David Price (Rays), Buster Posey (San Fran), Tim Lincecum(sp?) (San Fran), and Evan Longoria (Rays)

OH and that one pitcher in the Yankees organization. The one that can throw left and right handed. I can't think of his name

As for the Braves it would be:

Tommy Hanson: (RHP) Probably the best Braves Pitching Prospect since Steve Avery.

Jason Heyward: (OF) Great player. I still have no idea how he fell to the braves at the 14th pick.

Freddie Freeman: (1B) Right there with Heyward, probably a better power hitter than him too. Btw, Heyward and Freeman are best friends and they call them Salt and Pepper in the Minors. Not sure which is which though.

Cole Rohrbough: (LHP) Next year we will be talking about this kid the same way we talk about Hanson. He was injuried last year (something to do with his foot, nothing major but very hard to pitch like that).

                                Does Elijah Dukes qualify.

I think he is going to have a monster season.
