Anybody who thinks that Sammy Sosa, who weighed 160 pds when he came up, gained 60 pds naturally is just living in a fantasy world. The guy was a stick! Now he looks like a freaking bodybuilder. As for Bonds, give me a break. He looks completely different then he did when he played for my buccos. On top of that, he gained all this muscle in his thirties. I dont buy it. Baseball is a joke. They are destroying the records that have stood for years by using drugs and juiced balls.

        Re: Official \"Guess who\'s juiced\" game!!!

I don't know how old a lot of you guys are (I'm 36), but I can tell you that guys fill out as they get older. I was a stick until I was about 28, literally. I was 6'1" and 148lbs until then. I couldn't do anything to gain weight, even working out wasn't working out too well for me. Then in my late 20's and early 30's I gained more weight than I wanted to, ballooning up to about 190. If I hadn't started exercising again, I don't know where I'd be now. All my friends have filled out a lot in the last few years too. It's all a part of getting older.

I don't deny at all that some guys are juiced (in fact, I think Brian Giles is.. just look at his jawline!), but the BALL was definitely juiced the year Bonds got the record. Home runs were WAY up that year, just go back and look at everyone's numbers. Last year homers were down all around the league. Coincidence? I think not.

And if you ask anyone in the know, they'll say that Bonds has the quickest bat in baseball. A good eye and quick bat, along with his strength gets the ball out of the park. As far as PacBell Park goes, it's a pitcher's park because of the large center and left fields, and the big wall in right. Bonds is the only lefty on the team who can pull the ball over the wall. No right hander has hit a home run over that wall, from any team.

I'm not trying to say that Bonds doesn't use roids, but there are many factors to how someone hits home runs (bat speed, good contact, juiced balls, juiced players), and how big someone gets (roids, working out, lack of exercise, eating too much, age).

To say that he is definitely using though, is unfair. Maybe someone can tell me why I'm wrong about Brian Giles too.

                    Re: Official \"Guess who\'s juiced\" game!!!

Congratulations, thats pretty impressive. That being said, i would say that you are representative of about 1% of the population. I stand by what i said about Bonds and Sosa. All they would have to do to prove me wrong is take a steroid test. We all know that would never happen. Why is that? Some will say to maintain the integrity of the players unions stance on random testing. I say they are putting the integrity of the union above the integrity of the game. There are many players who dont use steroids, and they are the ones being hurt. Imagine if you were a player who hit 45 homers naturally, and you knew that a guy above you on the list was juiced.Wheres the integrity in that? Baseball, more than any other sport, is a game built on the allure of statistics and records. These records have been cheapened because of many variables. Juiced players, juiced balls, and even expansion which has weakened pitching. It seems as if the balls have been taken back to normal, after the insane 2001 season. Theres really nothing that can be done about expansion. So 2 of the 3 variables are either uncontrolable, or somewhat resolved. That leaves only one other variable. Steroid testing. Why do you think the union is so opposed? Really? If no one is using, then why not test? The sad truth is that many players are using steroids. Many of these players are the ones breaking records and becoming legends. They are doing this at the cost of the integrity of baseball. Anyone who is a true fan would want steroid testing.

I totally agree. The players should be tested, and there are definitely players out there using.

I was just trying to say that there are other reasons for someone to be doing as well as they are. I actually don't think Barry is using because I have heard many accounts about how hard he works at his game and in the gym. But if it is found out that he is, believe me, I'll be more disappointed than anyone.

I'm not a Cubs fan, or even a Sosa fan, but if it is found out that he is using, I'll be just as disappointed. The integrity of the game is still good to the average fan, but if someone like him or Bonds were found out, I think baseball would lose lots of fans, and that would sure be a darn shame.

On that note, I still say "catch those buggers".
