    Hit Variety..

Sorry if this has already been addressed, but it seems all I hit are line drives to the infielders or fly balls, with an ocassional line drive into the gap. I don't see many ground balls at all hit by the computer. Any suggestions as to how to get more of a balance?

    it's all about pitching.
ya gotta pitch the way they do in real life. if ya want to induce a ground ball, ya give em a low slider or a 2 seam fastball. but ya can't stay down there exclusively or they'll expect it and drive it. the main thing is to keep em off balanced and work the zone up and down.

A lot depends on if and wehre you are aiming the stick when you hit. I don't always aim my hits. Whether I do or not is based on who I have batting and what the count is. Earlier today I hit two high choppers back up the middle in a game. One of them the pitcher jumped up and snagged to throw me out at first and the other bounced over his head and I beat the throw from the SS for a single.

I love those high choppers, there should be more of them. I chopped one off the turf at the Metrodome and I could have sworn that it was a popup until I looked at the replay.

Ok, I've noticed an issue--aside from the occasional grounder up the middle (like the high choppers discussed), I can't seem to get a ground ball through the infield. first of all, grounders are rare in this game (even when I don't aim my hit I usually hit a fly ball or line drive). second, when the grounder is hit there is very little room to make it through the game between 1st and 2nd or 2nd and 3rd. And I may have once hit a grounder down one of the lines?

Is anyone else having an issue with this? Should I be aiming more if I really want the grounders? I don't find it to take away from the game too much, but it's noticiable for me.

I think the ranges on the infielders have to be lowered a bit...they do seem to scoot across the filed pretty quickly, especially to snag linedrives. There is a lot of work going on right now with people playing with the attributes by editing the files. I think getting more groundballs and fewer linedrives is definitely doable, and lowering range on IF should help some of those go through for hits...

Absolutely, especially at the corners. First baseman get to groundballs halfway to 2nd and the 3Bman gets halfway to 2nd. I'm confident that these are things we can get taken care of without having to hope and pray that EA fixes something, and a good thing too because I put more trust in myself than I do in EA with patches.
