    Re: Hit Variety..

One thing we have to be careful of though is avoiding a "hit fest"...I can see how they may have made some of these items on purpose to keep hit totals "reasonable" and not be perceived as too arcadish. If we can make the pitching tougher to get a hit, then these other edits may work well in tandem...

If that ends up being the case hot zones can be edited for all players too, less hot zones and more normal zones. There's about a billion attributes to work with, one way or another you can get them balanced out.

btw, did you get my email? I also posted the files on the website I through together.

Too much range? sorry, haven't seen this.

Sure infielders make a few too many spectacular catches but I've seen a number, huge number, of grounders squeeze through Short/third and 2nd/1st.

I've seen the first baseman dive over the ball and the 2nd baseman miss-time the ball b/c he "thought" the firstbaseman had it. Same with the left side of the diamond.

Yeah, but the first baseman is often halfway to second when he does dive...that I have seen. I have seen 3rd basemen catch linedrives at the ss position. I have seen. And yes, too many over the shoulder dives into the outfield to snare a blooper. I just think it can be toned down a bit in my opinion...

There just don't seem to be enough groundballs or enough groundball hits overall. I'll have to start keeping track of groundball/flyball ratios and compare them to the major league average but I'm willing to bet that it is skewd more than a little. I'm not talking about making dramatic changes to the ratings, more along the lines of subtle tweaks for realism.

If your version of MVP plays fine you don't have to use any edited files. Those of use that think changes need to be made will.

                        have a good one,
