Here is what I would like in a game:
1. Good looks and details. Ok, I admit it. I am as superficial with video games as I am with women. Graphics are important to me and I really enjoy finding details like airplanes at Shea, the Citgo sign over the Green Monster and the monuments in the Bronx.
2. Fun and fast gameplay. I got ASB last year and while it was great with graphics and details, I found it slow and aggrevating to play.
3. 80% realistic. To be fun and fast, I understand that some realism will be lost. I don’t care about things like being able to do a double switch or warm up the bull pen. But on the other hand, I don’t want guys catching on fire nor every game to end up 16-13 with 10 HR’s. A few shoot outs are fine, but some pitcher’s duels would be nice to...basically a good mix like in real baseball.
I’ll be lucky to make it through one season, so I don’t care about franchise, trading or create a player. Additionally, I don’t have broadband, so I don’t care about online play, it is just me and the CPU.
From what I have heard, HH doesn’t look all that good. And from experience, I know that ASB is too slow. But that still leaves a couple candidates. People don’t seem impressed by the previews of IP, but the interviews with the developer are encouraging......seems like a nice sim-arcade blend.
I would appreciate any thoughts.
