Tejada
For those playing as the A's in a Franchise, are you guys able to and considering resigning Tejada or are you guys trading him at the deadline?Tags: None -
Re: Tejada
Anyone with half a clue would keep him... I wouldn't base my franchise off of what the ACTUAL team does... I mean, I'M the GM, if Billy Beane doesn't re-sign Tejada, I sure as hell would... UNLESS I get a decent offer bringing me talent and prospects... I'm always willing to deal, but it better be good to pry Tejada off of me.... however I'm using the Pirates, so MY "Tejada" would be Giles...
Run YOUR franchise as you see fit, the real team deals a player you love, doesn't mean YOU have to, you know? -

Re: Tejada
I would like to re-sign him...but I suppose what I am trying to get at is: For people that are re-signing him in their Franchises, is your budget strained after doing so?Comment

Re: Tejada
As I'm not using the A's, I AM using the Pirates that sport a similar payroll.. maybe even less...
I don't see how resigning your top star is going to kill you... I mean if it sets you back, you can always accomodate other ways... I think in the real A's story, they're not willing to do that... I think Beane actually kinda likes his revolving door of excellent rookies passing through and as long as he maintains it, there's nothing wrong with that.
I just read an article on ESPN.com about Tejada, the writer said, "A's main asset is GM Billy Beane, who manages to squeeze water out of rocks."Comment

Re: Tejada
I gotcha. I guess I should take the real-life stuff out of the game. I don't know what the Pirates payroll is but I'm nowhere near 400BP - maybe the Pirates are lower than that. I'm guessing the Yankees have got be near 1000BP. I'm not sure.
Thanks for the help!
BTW how many years does Giles have left.....I think he's there long-term right?Comment

Re: Tejada
To be quite honest with you I don't know... I know in real life he's got at least 3 years left, he just signed a contract a couple years back, I remember they announced it at the game I had attended over the PA system. Needless to say it got a standing O... lol
Trust me, if ANY team is sporting a payroll lower than the A's, the Pirates are one of them...lol
As far as Giles contract on 2K3, I'm not sure, I just looked at 1 year players and saw very little that I knew I had to contend with. I know in real life Lofton and Sanders are 1-year deals, but I signed them off FA on the game and signed them both to 3-year deals. I'd have gone less with Lofton, but he wasn't having it...lolComment

Re: Tejada
i lost him for 91 days with an acl tear in my 8th game of the year, so i will in all likelyhood trade him before the deadline now. the thing is, if u sign him, u wont be able to sign chavez, hudson, mulder, and zito when their contracts expire. im saving up and banking money for those guys.Comment
