Re: Bob Costas joins MLB Network

This weekend they are televising both of Roger Clemens' 20 strikeout games , Kerry Wood's 20 strike out game, Randy Johnson's 20 strike out game and both of his 19 strike out games, and David Cone's 19 strike out game.
So it looks like they are moving away from World Series games for at least one week giving us some real classic games.

On play-by-play, Costas is manageable - I agree. I still remember him doing the NBA Finals in 97 & 98 and it was enjoyable. I mean he's not Billy Packer, so at least that's going for him...

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

Well basketball was never Costas' best suit. He's mainly a baseball guy who's okay at NBA. The only reason why he got into NBA PBP was because of Marv Albert's rather peculiar sexual habits.

Yea, let's agree that Costas should stick to baseball. He's fantastic there. Every other sport is a mistake.

Yea basketball isn't a strong suit...especially when you're calling Carmelo Anthony's corn-rows "modified dreadlocks". Its ok Bob...you don't have to be politically correct there.

            You can say "corn-rows".

I still remember watching that Kerry Wood game like it happened yesterday. That's when I became of fan of his. I have always loathed the Cubs but became a fan of watching Wood pitch. I hate that he has had all these injuries to deal with.

                Love this.

Watching him talking about Arod right now, doing an excellent job.

I miss him calling games on NBC.

I don't. I hate that they couldn't wait till Hot Stove came on tonight to talk about this. No they have to take those games off the air.

They're reshowing the games atleast 2-3 other times this week. It's not really a big deal.

I just could care less at this point who took steriods and who didn't. I just wish it would all disappear. It's the same deal with the Michael Vick stuff.

But I just remembered the Arca race was coming on so I'm watching that now.

I kind of planned my sick weekend to watch those strikeout games. I can't do that when I'm working during the week.

I like that they are covering this stuff, but I hate that they took away my Saturday plans.

I don't. If I want to record something I record it to DVD.

No. And even if I did, there will be something else I'll want to watch during the time I could watch that recording.

It was mostly a point of watching it today because I was sick, at home, and really wanted to. I don't want to watch these games Monday night.

I'm honestly a bit too young to remember Costas' days as a play-by-play in baseball but the little bit I've heard seems pretty decent, especially the mid-90s series (like the replay of the 95' season that was showing)

I'm seriously loving this channel (still warming to the actual discussions and hot stove "reporting); I'm actually watching it more than ESPN
