Yeah I have seen him too. He is by FAR my favorite player of All Time. He is built like a regular guy who works out. But he is also a big guy with a big frame that he grew into. He is nowhere near the body builder like bodies of Sosa, Bonds and others. If Griffey's name was ever put in with steroids I would be crushed as a baseball fan.

Agreed. Griffet looks athletic and not like a bodybuilder.

Somewhere Canseco is smiling. I hate to say it, but I have read both of his books and believed everything he wrote. He went into such detail about there had to be some truth to it.

Yep, a few bad apples (or in this case, 3/4 of them bad apples) ruin it for every player.

We have no clue in the late 80's, mid 90's, etc. If ARod was using in 2003 (and presumably from the start of his career), then every single player who doesn't have a clean test result goes under the same microscope IMO.

Yeah you're probably right. Now you have to look at Pujols IMO. He has already has suspicions before.

What are the chances any of these other 103 players get leaked? I doubt it.

Agreed, I would be crushed also. On a side note, what is the likelihood that NBA players are juicing today? When you compare early 90's games to today, all of the players look so tiny.

I would say slim to none on the NBA guys. Steroids wouldn't really benefit the muscules most important to the game of basketball. You don't really want big bulky like muscles in basketball you want your muscles to be lean and fast twitch. Guys are bigger in all sports today than in the past. I think it has more to do with the better weight training and fitness programs today than in the past. I mean they even put strenth and conditioning coaches in high scools now for crying out loud. There was no such position like that back in the day. I mean you got some high schools now with state of the art weight rooms and things.

On another note I do believe there are some guys in the NFL on the "juice". It would benefit those guys alot more than it would NBA guys. If you look at the NBA guys most of them are still lean guys. They just have better traning and conditioning.

First thing I thought of when I heard this on the car radio. Remember how everyone jumped @ his credibility for saying it? Just like in his 1st book? the guy may be sleaze, but he's a correct sleaze.

Seriously, no one saw this coming? All of them used roids, erase every single stat from 86 - 06 or put an * next to all of them. Every single stat/record.

Agreed. That's why I don't like the argument people have when they say Bonds record should have an asterik because he used roids & Aaron didn't. But Hank didn't have to play vs players on roids either.

Seriously though, the timing of this leads me to believe that this has something to do with the Bonds evidence being unsealed. I think the Feds had access to all of MLB's drug test results in 2003 and this little nugget was probably in there somewhere. It will be interesting to see if this leads to more guys being outed.

My feelings as well. I thought it was a bad precedent for the government to seize those samples. Everyone of us who've ever given a sample for a drug screen are susceptable to this practice. I'm not worried about about anything in my past coming to light, because I haven't done anything illegal. But I am fearful they could use it to frame myself or others. And please don't tell me this is America, it won't happen. Similar things have already taken place in this country.

If the government wants to go on a witch hunt or get some leverage, anything is possible. Keep in mind, this is a perjury case. Not drugs. Who knows where this leads?

BTW, I guess we can start calling Alex, "A-Roids".

You can bet that there are NFL guys juicing. As for the NBA, I really don't see it. If you look at the athletes in the NBA, must of them are just lean athletes. There really isn't a need to juice in the NBA either.

NBA players are probably the best conditioned "clean" athletes in all of sports.

To play devil's advocate, this steroid Arod tested positive for is reportedly one that build lean muscle mass, not that watery bulky stuff most steroids produce. It's also the most expensive. I think we're being naive to assume nothing like this goes on in the NBA, but I would agree its probably less of a concern there than it would be in other sports.

I disagree. The steroid Alex was taking supposedly didn't add muscle. It was for "lean, fast twitch muscles", which, by the way, is exactly how someone described NBA players want their muscles to be like.

There are steroids for different things. If it could work for an NBA body then it's possible someone would be interested in taking it.

Also, lets remember that it's not 75% of the players that are guilty. Just over 5% tested positive. That's much less than Canseco's prediction.

Sosa is guilty in the court of public opinion. Wether thats right or wrong is up for debate.

McGwire never tested positive either, though I see no reason to defend a guy who won't even defend himself.

That 5% (was about 7%) that tested positive though knew they were being tested in spring training of 2003. Its possible the number could have been higher in years prior to that, though I think the number probably wasn't much higher, maybe 10%. And I still think most of the guys taking weren't the big names but guys just trying to stay in baseball.
