MLB TV VS. Extra Innings package
I wanted to know if anyone out there signed up for the MLB.com tv package where you get to watch live games over the internet. Currently I have the Extra Innings package on digital cable, but I'm getting fustrated with the whole thing because right now it "Shares" channels with the Hockey package channel. So right now I'm not even getting that many games. Combine that with the fact that you can archive games and stuff without wasting your own HDD space, it might be a good deal. The only thing that I don't like is that I can't do other things with my computer if I want to watch a game, and my bandwidth is pretty much consumed 100% by the broadcast, leaving me very little for anything else.
Any thoughts?

That is precisely why I switched to Direct TV rather than Digital Cable. They don't make NHL and MLB share channels. They each have their own so you don't miss out. And I also have MLB.com TV...it's horrible compared to Extra Innings. It's really small and it eats bandwidth like no other. Direct TV, along with the NBA, NHL and MLB packages make me a really really happy guy, plus you can only get NFL on Direct TV. Makes it a worthwhile investment...to me anyway. -

Re: MLB TV VS. Extra Innings package
Yeah, I understand what your saying about how direct tv has its advantages. The only problem for me is that I love the Phillies. And Comcast around here likes being exclusive and only offers its services to Comcast Digital Cable. Therefore if I got DirecTV and the mlb extra innings package, all the phillies games would be blacked out. So I'm kinda stuck. I love NFL ticket, but I'd rather watch the phillies all summer long and miss footballl games. Hopefully someday DirecTV will be able to strike a deal with Comcast and display the Philadelphia Comcast Sportsnet.
The bandwidth issue really makes MLB.COM seem like a poor option.Comment

Its not like I'm getting them for free. The cable company is taking $140 from me for thatComment

I understand your frustration with Comcrap. Someone should pass some legislation making it illegal for one cable company not providing the dish with their team. I'm in the philly market and occassionally (spelling) like catching flyers sixers phils. So, I had to keep the minimum of comcrap, even though I'm a DirecTV subscriber. It gets costly, in fact I will be looking to trim some of our viewing fat this fall. Once DirecTV gets ESPN HD, my dish will be exclusively for sports.Things are looking up for sports gaming!Comment
