      For example, in this chapter or Appendix, make a timeline and make note of when colored players were allowed to play in the MLB, when steroid use was suspected to have started, when steroid use was banned and tested for, when the mound was raised/lowered/moved back, when spitballs and foreign substances began to be heavily enforced, when MLB started going to 5 man rotations, expansion teams, all of it.

      So when a youngster is looking back at the stats, he has the proper context of every number and he can make the decision himself whether Ruth's numbers were more impressive than A-Rod's, Cy Young vs. Maddux, etc., based on his beliefs. Fairest way to do it, IMO.
