Re: PC Roster Update in a couple days

I've had a modified attrib.dat sitting on my site for a week and I've only recieved a couple of emails with comments/suggestions.

I'm interested in modified .dat files, not an in-game roster save. Once the roster has been changed/saved in the game the .dat files serve no purpose.

btw, there is a PC roster file for download at http://www.mvpbaseball2003.com/index.cgi?home - haven't checked it out yet though.

What does this roster update address exactly or solve.

Not exactly sure, according to the readme it's not fully complete. It appears to use the default ratings for players and players that aren't in the game have been created (didn't create Rick Reed as one of the 25 though?).

                that's all I know...

I believe I have found a nice balance with my modded dat files.

All my starters are rated in stamina from 90-99. I didnt want them all to be 99, and anything over 99 MVP dosent recognize.

With my catchers all at between 41-50 arm strength and accuracy it is nice and balnced as well. Again go under 36 in any of these catagories and MVP dosent know whats going on.

And the speed of players has been increased but not all of them. Basically your leadoff players, guys that get steals, etc got a nice boost. Dave Roberts for example is now a 96 speed. This has been a wonderful change. Its made me hurry throws when a speedster hits a slow roller, which is real.

I agree with you though. I was very hesitant in starting to create new rosters. But I was confident that the changes I made had a nice balance. Luckily when you save a new roster your .dat files are incorporated as well.

And yes I have Rick Reed as the Twins #2 starter..

Re: PC Roster Update in a couple days

I've been playing with the speed of all players and the fielding of infielders. A boost to the speed at the low end has been nice, unfortunately the "getting to 1st" speed continues to be horrendous at best.

I've hammed the fielding abilities of pitchers, very nice results thus far. Also lowered range of infielders slightly along with their throwing strength. Alot of close plays at first, double plays are not a given.

I look forward to a nice roster to restart my franchise with, still playing with the default.

In the meantime will continue to play with the .dat files. Hopefully EA will release a patch that'll help cure a couple of shortcomings.
