Baserunning...Anyone having problems with this?????
This game is fantastic except for the baserunning. I am controlling the Houston Astros on All Star level and Biggio, Lugo, Bagwell, just about anybody runs the bases uncontrollably. A routine single to center and the baserunner tries to take 2nd and 3rd sometimes. This is ruining a great game for me. Is there a patch or to stop this or am I the only one having this problem. I also play the Yankees in another league and it does the same thing. I can't win a game because of baserunning. Any help would be most appreciated.Tags: None -

Control the runner yourself, problem solved."If y’all see me in the news, and I make the news for something that I ain’t got no business making it for, don’t bash me. Say it was a young guy living."

The Advance-all and Retreat-all buttons are your best friends when it comes to baserunning (unless you've got a bunch of guys on base).Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists AssociationComment

Re: Baserunning...Anyone having problems with this?????
yah i've gotten so used to the advance-retreat all buttons that it sometimes hurts me. Case in point:
1 out, runner on second, down by one run. I hit a single, and my guy on second is turning third, ready to score easily. When he is about halfway from third to home, my single-hitter decides to (stupidly) go for second. I instinctively press the retreat all trigger, and my baserunner going home turns back to third and gets tagged out.Comment

Re: Baserunning...Anyone having problems with this?????
I am still having a tough time with running. Do you guys use the keyboard to control runners or a gamepad. I use a Gravis gamepad pro. Should I be using both the keyboard and the gamepad or just the gamepad or just the keyboard. This is my downfall in the game, any suggestion is greatly appreciated.

Re: Baserunning...Anyone having problems with this?????
I think I had a discussion with someone in another forum about baserunning and playing the game with a gravis gamepad pro. I decided that it is not a good controller to be using for this game (big understatement). I've got a firestorm dual analog and I've got it setup to use every possible button, I love it.
So to answer your question I would say use the gamepad but think about getting yourself a controller with analog sticks on it.Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists AssociationComment

Re: Baserunning...Anyone having problems with this?????
lonnier, some help for you: When you hit what you think should be a single , you must STOP the runner at first yourself by hitting the "first base" button. Default for this on Gamepad Pro is green, I think. You can change it. It tells the runner you're controlling where you want him to go. If you want a double, hit the "second" button (blue) and then hit the slide headfirst button. ALWAYS slide headfirst. Become familiar with these buttons under "offensive controls" in the controller configuration screen. It will save you lots of frustration. I had same prob as you when I first started playing. Good luck.Comment
