Re: World Baseball Classic '09 - Discussion Thread
That was worth the wait
Ichiro is one of my favorite athletes in any sport (those quotes are just great). His legend grew even more today.
Darvish is an animal too. I hope he gets to wear a Mets uniform some time. Great job by Korea too.

I will say this- the guys on the American squad that actually did play gave 110%. Reading what Jeter and Wright had to say was a reflection of guys who felt proud to rock the red, white, and blue. I can't fault the guys on the team at all.

Re: World Baseball Classic '09 - Discussion Thread
If they played like the way they would have play in a game 7. Then I would be shock if anyone could have beat them. I am telling this should be bigger than winning a World Series. This is for your Country. Or at least that is how it should be.Comment

Re: World Baseball Classic '09 - Discussion Thread
The WBC is growing on me, but I'm still not sold on it, I love seeing all the players for other countries in action, It's great seeing some of these future mlb players, and I love the passion and the atmosphere, It's almost like a college basketball atmosphere, The game between Korea and Japan was electric and the fans of each country were riveted with excitement and passion and pride, it's one of the biggest things ever to hit some of their countries. But it's just not that important to America, It's exciting to watch and fun to watch "our team" but I don't feel bad when we lost, Where as every Yankee game I watch, I am angered with a loss because of my passion for the team, it just doesn't register the same way with me, what about you guys? Do you really feel the same way about losing in the WBC, the same way you do when your MLB team loses. I really don't think we have the best players out there either, Congrats to Japan, but I really wonder if they could beat a US team that has the same enthusiasm as a MLB team has in the world series, Could The U.S really be beat if they had Josh Beckett on the mound instead of Peavy? Especially with his state of mind, and history of being one of the most reliable of "big game pitchers" or Cole Hamels starting instead of Oswalt, and the electric Linecum starting, and arguably the best pitcher of last season, Cliff Lee? no Joe Mauer, Ryan Howard, Josh Hamilton, one of the most exciting players in America, and it would have been awesome for the world to see what that man is capable of. This Classic is just so watered down it's not really the world's best. Some of yall probably think I'm just sour grapes over us losing, But I just named 5 of America's best players not even playing, a far larger margin then any of the of the other teams. I'm just not convinced or sold on Japan really being the world's best baseball team.Comment
