Re: Dusty Baker (and other assorted morons)
Ignoring the convo you're having with Coug, I have to quote this.
I think it needs to be made clear that no one here is saying that Dunn is the best player to have on your team. I really wasn't even arguing how good he is.
My post was made because peavy44 said that Dunn was the reason the Reds struggled the past few years and that it's no surprise his team is now 0-7.
So, I pointed out facts rather than hyperbole claiming he's the reason the Reds were terrible or the Nationals are terrible. I mean, let's ignore that the Nationals have been terrible for a few years now, I guess.
No one here tried to say that Dunn was amazing. We just tried to understand how someone can blame one player for a franchise's woes. It's (can I use the word again?) ludicrous.
I only brought up the Nats win total with Dunn because Ewing stated that losing Dunn would cost the Reds alot of wins this year. I never once said Dunn was the reason the Nats are winless.ND Season Ticket Holder since '72.Comment

Re: Dusty Baker (and other assorted morons)
I didn't realize I had your name wrong until I saw your reply. I was like, "Oh, it's jake not peavy!"
You brought up the record so I made that connection. If that wasn't your intention then I'll try my best to pull back that letter I sent you in the mail yesterday.Last edited by CMH; 04-15-2009, 11:21 AM."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. If you do make it back then you might as well call me A-Rod because I just failed in the clutch."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. Re: Dusty Baker (and other assorted morons)
Ditto.
Does anyone remember when Dusty was with the Giants and a reporter asked him if a game 7 (or maybe it was some other number but it was an elimination game) was a must win and he scoffed at the idea of it being a must win even though his teams season was going to be over if he lost.?Comment

Just for that I'm gonna make a Adan Dunn is God avatar to spite you and everyone else in the baseball forum that either isn't a member of the OSBRSA or named Ewing (who's almost done with his initiation. We just need him to either get banned for 30 days for sending threatening PMs highlighting advanced statistics and circling letters that spell out a death threat once unscrambled or being put on ignore by every Phillies fan on this board)."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied.
