I only posted this because of how stupid and ridiculous the pictures looked. Any athlete doing that photo shoot would be hilarious to me.

Ya know i would kind of like to see when the Yankees go to Boston or cross town to play the Mets or to Cleveland or Chicago where the fans can be...a little rougher than most, i would like to see them plaster that pic of A-Roid kissing himself on the scoreboard when he comes to bat just to listen to the crowds heckle the hell out of him and watch is overly-sensative butt squirm.

Oh yea, it definitely looks stupid. I just knew it would get hyped and that I just don't understand.

Isnt it hyped simply because the pics are so stupid and of a polarizing athlete?
Seems pretty straight forward to me.

Oh, and those years he's dealt with injuries? He's only averaged 40 homeruns and over 110 RBI in those three injury-plagued seasons.

                Yea.
yeah and he was junk at 3rd his first year with yankees, hit a measly .286 and for every postseason they made a-fraud would suck it up always leaving runners on base while at the plate and hitting with a sub .200 average

i dont care what he averaged, sure hes a good baseball player but no one likes him even though he trys so hard to be loved and he stinks in the postseason

he sucks, his teammates don't like him and call him "a-fraud" to his face, he lets fans get in his head, do i need to go on?

I'm the last person who would ever defend A-Rod as I'm still bitter that he left the M's, but you can't be serious with that claim. Do you expect A-Rod to manage the team, acquire players, hit in all nine spots of the lineup and pitch?

You said he falters under pressure. I just proved that immediately following years in which the pressure was at it's highest, he went above and beyond at the plate.

Junk at 3B? The guy was playing 3B for this first time in his career. Did you expect him to be a Gold Glover all of a sudden at the corner? Come on, let's be serious dude. Stop trying to find a way to defend yourself when you're obviously wrong.

Your explanation is muddled in hate. You actually just tried to argue that 52 homeruns is 20 short of what a player with the most money should hit. 20 short? Where do you come up with this stat? Just because Barry Bonds hits 72, Rodriguez is supposed to do it because Hicks gave him $25 MM a year? Wow.

                    Yea, I'm moving on.

I saw a video of Willie Mays standing around the batting cage when ARod was with the Rangers. ARod mentioned that he wanted to go to New York because, "That's where all the money is".

Willie looked at him with a frown and said, "What the hell do you need more money for".

Not much to do with this thread, just thought it was telling.

                      Love ya Willie.

well now more "things" are coming out about A-Rod now... like that he used the same escort service ex-NY gov Elliot Spitzer used..

I say he's having quite an offseason..

I'd like to see that video. I don't think of you as a liar, Jim, so I'll take your word for it, but I still would like to see it because I do have a hard time believing he could say that and no one talks about it in New York.

The NY Media is so disgusting and shameless that this just couldn't get past them without it making the back page everyday of a single week.

And more examples of the NY media reaching for what even ESPN has said is a shameless attempt to save their jobs.

                          9. "I wish (Jose Reyes) was leading off on our team. That's fun to watch. Anytime you have that type of speed. I mean, we have a guy in (Brett) Gardner, and that'll be fun. That's probably the most fun you can have, is watching a guy like that run." - March 3, 2009
A-Rod scrambles to clarify his statement later, when he realizes the Yankees, um, already have a shortstop.

                          6. "The reality is there's been a change in the relationship over 14 years and, hopefully, we can just put it behind us. You go from sleeping over at somebody's house five days a week, and now you don't sleep over. It's just not that big of a deal." - Feb. 19, 2007
A-Rod talks about his fizzling friendship with Derek Jeter, which, apparently, once included sleepovers on each and every weeknight.

^^^lol...You're right. There's a TON of time wasting stories not only making print, but being dedicated to front page status in some press. I guess to be fair, it's really only reflective of society in general now. There are far too many people interested in famous people's trainwreck lifestyles.

There are plenty of lower budget guys who are even more screwy than A-Rod, but fame/talent=more interesting. Even regular news sources now have segments dedicated to hollywood types messing up their lives...lol.

It's a shame too, because there's a lot of good reporting that goes...ummm...unreported

Sorry, guess I'm just sick of A-Rod...lol

I'm sorry, Jim. I'm not trying to challenge you in any way. I'm mostly curious about the story because I'm just surprised that I haven't seen it in print or talk radio here in NY. Just seems like an odd thing for the NY media to not have picked up.
