The problem is that not enough people in Florida care about the Marlins. At least that is what the attendance says.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't they even have problems selling World Series tickets?Too Old To Game Club

Re: MARLINS !! NEW STADIUM
World Series tickets were never a problem to sell, Division series, yes... I believe they still own the record for highest attendance at a world series game (i could be wrong). The problem is the fans in south florida have had their team dismantled every time they start to show promise, If the team is winning fans start to show up. I think the location is one of the biggest problems they have, most of there fans are from the broward, Palm Beach areas.....moving the team more south isnt gonna pull the fans in.Comment

Sigh. This stadium will be up just in time for the Marlins to win a 3rd World Series ring while the Indians struggle to win one in the last 65+ years.http://flotn.blogspot.com

Re: MARLINS !! NEW STADIUM
The Marlins have a great young nucleus with Hanley, Hermida, Uggla, Maybin, and more pitchers than people even know about. Nolasco won 15 games last year with a 3 1/2 ERA with no press, and Johnson, Volstad, Sanchez, and Miller are all young and capable of rounding out the best young staff in baseball.
If a new stadium means keeping the kids and adding some sluggers if they don't develop their own, the Marlins could end up shaking up the NL East like the Rays did in the formally insurmountable AL East. Give it a few years, but if they win and attendance grows as people take them seriously, I'd love to see what they're capable of.Comment

Re: MARLINS !! NEW STADIUM
I'm going to guess yes, since he's signed through 2014 and this is supposed to be built by 2012 I think. I couldn't see them trading him because they really need a big star at that time to get fans interested to come out to the new park. I know there's a lot of money devoted to him, but with a new ballpark I think they'll be more likely to up the payroll for it.Comment

No. Baseball-only. City of Miami officials were dying to boot the Canes from the Orange Bowl so they could tear it down and build a ballpark for the Marlins on the site.MLB: Cincinnati Reds
NFL: Cincinnati Bengals
NCAA Hoops: Xavier Musketeers
NCAA Football: Miami Hurricanes
NHL: Calgary Flames

I was thinking UM baseball was building a new park. It should be about the same size as the Marlins need.Comment
