Yes. Marlins fans have not shown great support during the regular season. Playoffs and on it is sold out. However, this lack of support was a result of them building championship teams and dismantling them. The owners had no other option when all revenues from the stadium were not falling into their pockets. This new stadium gives the owner a much needed profit to stay competitive. He already stated that this will be great for the future of the organization. It will help us keep the nucleus of young stars together and attract free agents. Fans will be excited to come and see the Fish.

The only reason the Marlins sold out for the World Series was because they played the Yankees in 2003.

The Marlins averaged 30,000+ the first few years before their first WS Championship over the Indians. After the team got dismantled, fans rebelled by not showing up. If your city builds a team and accomplishes the ultimate goal, then you see it all get ruined due to economic issues-you probably would not go to as many games. Since that happened, TWICE, you gotta understand the casual South Florida baseball fan. But things will change my friends. You wait and see -the time is coming - very soon you will mention the Marlins as a constant powerhouse in the National League.

I was thinking UM baseball was building a new park. It should be about the same size as the Marlins need.

UM refurbished Mark Light Field into Alex Rodriguez Park at Mark Light Field just recently.

Looks like it is going to be a nice stadium. They are smart to make it a dome. I would not want to watch a game in 8 billion degree weather with 10 billion percent humidity. Hopefully fans showing up to the new ballpark with make their owner continually invest money in the team to keep them competitive.

As one poster mentioned, and I would agree, as long as Loria is the owner he is always going to pinch pennies and not invest in a contender like he should. He should have never been allowed to purchase the franchise in the first place.

Funny thing is, like most stadiums...Great facility, shi^^y neighborhood. I personally don't like the design aspect of the roof sliding and acting like an awning for homeless and pigeons. Hope that's not true. The rest of the design is awesome.

And as far as Loria goes, he better spend..if not fans wont come..and he will be back to first base.

Also, forgot to mention..This stadium might bring the Olympics to Miami. The County commissioners plan on bidding for the Olympics in the future. This is one of many forthcoming additions to the city to persuade the Olympic committee for a hopeful hosting by South Florida.
