The progression is completely random. In my Braves dynasty, before I saved over it , I simmed to the end of the season once and set things up for the next year. Marcus Giles had improved to a 74 rtg. up from about mid 60s. Rafeal Furcal lost a point, his rtg. was now 70. I didn't save it though. Then when I completed the year, Giles was only a 69 rtg. The player progression is completely random. I went 22-3 with Russ Ortiz and won the Cy Young. Entering the next season his rating was exactly the same (78). Player improvement is completely random.

<hr /></blockquote><font class="post"> yeah but how old is Russ Ortiz? he's not going to improve too much, if you notice after age 29 or 30 there is no more ratings given to improvement, ,a,b,c, etc.

      Re: Progression

It's random. Just simulate an entire season and save it during the playoffs or something and see how all of your players advance the next season. For the same season, Carlos Guillen had mediocre stats and he went up 4 points, went up 6 points, and went down one point.

Edit: By random, I mean progression isn't based on performance. Potential has something to do with it.

i take that back..i saw a buy with A- potential progress from a 62 to a 84 over 5 years. his avg and power went up. also, i saw eric chavez gain 3 avg and power after a good year then he still had a good year but hit only 41 compared to the 50 he hit the year before and his avg and power dropped 3.

also, i drafted a first basemen 52 ovr with b- potential and he spent his first year in the minors his ovr dropped 4 points. and my minor league manager rated a b for batters.
