    Question On Mods For PC

I'm still trying to understand tune files and "Mods". I can't find any explanation of these. It sounds like users re-do the graphics to the stadiums and the players, which can be downloaded for the PC. Questions:

    1. How good do the new stadiums look compared to the XBOX version?

    2. How different are player faces, uniforms, crowds, etc?

    3. How do you download these (must they go into a specific file folder in the game? (Can this be done without screwing up the game programming?)

    4. Are the graphical improvements offset by the need to play on a computer monitor (smaller in size, controls not as good as XBOX, etc.)

    5. How do you know what files need to be downloaded and what files don't?

    6. How much time does it take to download everything? There is so much stuff, I don't know what they all mean and how to use it, what to use, etc.

    Thanks guys.

Re: Question On Mods For PC

    PC. Questions:

    1. How good do the new stadiums look compared to the XBOX version?

THE XBOX/PS2 GRAPHICS ARE QUITE BLAND COMPARED TO THE MOD CREATED STADIUMS/UNIFORMS/BATS/GLOVES/FACES/ ETC. ETC. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO COMPARISON. IF I DIDN'T HAVE THE MODS STADIUMS, ETC., I WOULD NOT BE PLAYING THE CONSOLE GAME.
    2. How different are player faces, uniforms, crowds, etc?

SEE ABOVE. FACEPACKS HAVE BEEN RELEASED THAT GIVE MANY PLAYERS THEIR FACES OR RESONABLE FASCIMILIES THEREOF. THE HI-RES UNIFORMS BEING MADE FOR THE PC GAME OR SPECTACULAR.

    3. How do you download these (must they go into a specific file folder in the game? (Can this be done without screwing up the game programming?)

THESE HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH GAME PROGRAMMING. FOR EXAMPLE, UNIFORMS FOR EACH TEAM ARE IN THE UNIFORM FOLDER. MERELY CLICK ON THE FOLDER THAT YOU WANT TO CHANGE AND DRAG AND DROP THE NEW UNIFORMS INTO THE FOLDER TO OVERWRITE THE DEFAULT UNIFORM. SOME ARE A LITTLE MORE COMPLICATED THAN THAT BUT BASICALLY IT'S A PIECE OF CAKE.

    4. Are the graphical improvements offset by the need to play on a computer monitor (smaller in size, controls not as good as XBOX, etc.)

I USE A GAMEPAD CONTROLLER ON A 19" MONITOR. THE CONTROLS ARE NO DIFFERENT THAN PLAYING ON A CONSOLE.

    5. How do you know what files need to be downloaded and what files don't?

PERSONAL PREFERENCE. FOR EXAMPLE, IF YOU WANT A NEW BASEBALL, YOU CAN CHOOSE TO DOWNLOAD IT. I PERSONALLY HAVE ALL THE NEW STADIUMS, UNIFORMS, FACE PACKS, GLOVES, BATS. I ALSO HAVE SEVERAL SOUND ENHANCEMENTS (FIREWORKS FOR HOMERUNS) AND HAVE DELETED THE HORRIBLE BATTER WALK UP MUSIC. I HAVE ALSO DOWNLOADED HI-RES CROWDS THAT LOOK FAR BETTER THAN THE CONSOLE.

    6. How much time does it take to download everything? There is so much stuff, I don't know what they all mean and how to use it, what to use, etc.

MOST PEOPLE HAVE 56K MODEMS. THE NEW STADIUMS MIGHT BE 2.5MB. IT WOULD TAKE ME ABOUT 8 MINUTES TO DOWNLOAD A STADIUM, BUT IT'S WORTH IT. IT PROBABLY TOOK ME TWO WEEKS WORKING ON AND OFF TO CHANGE MY GAME TO MY PREFERENCE GRAPHICALLY.
A UNIFORM CAN BE 500-600KB, WHICH MIGHT TAKE YOU 3 MINUTES TO DOWNLOAD.

THE TUNE FILE IS MOSTLY THE GAMEPLAY FILE. YOU CAN ADJUST THE SPEED OF THE PLAYERS, DELAY OUT OF THE BATTERS BOX, SIZE OF THE BALL, REMOVE THE UGLY FIELD MARKER COMPLETELY, GIVE DIFFERENT BATTING VIEWS THAN THE DEFAULT VIEWS, ETC., ETC., ETC.

KEEP IN MIND THAT A MAJOR CONSIDERATION IS THE TYPE OF COMPUTER YOU HAVE/VIDEO AND SOUND CARD AS THE PC GAME IS VERY UNSTABLE. I HAD TO GET A NEW VIDEO CARD AND AFTER THAT I WAS FINE. SOME PEOPLE STILL CAN'T GET IT TO RUN. (EXCUSE CAPS, BUT HOPE THIS GIVES YOU AN IDEA). CAN ANSWER MORE IF YOU'D LIKE.

Wow, please explain how you drag and drop folders when these downloads are included on web sites. Do the graphical improvements exceed WSB? ASB? Any bugs? What about minimum system requirements? Feel free to be as detailed as you like.

Where are all these downloads found? Just a few sites would be appreciated.

I beleive HH for the PC does look better than wsb, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder. One thing that still bothers me in wsb is that for all the graphical candy that it gives, some of it just looks weird to me. Like some of the animations ( the pitcher when a batter is up to bat) and others just repeat themselves so much that it just irks me.

HH on the ps2 and most definitely on the PC try to cut down on the repition and just dont show every player 'effect', or maybe they just arent as pronounced. But WSB still has some graphical areas which look better than HH(PC version).

As far as dragging and dropping files, you downloaded a zipped file, lets say a new stadium. You can then extract the files into the stadium folder and it will overwrite the old ones. Thats it. You can always make a backup of the file you are going to overwrite, but normally its not really necessary because the file replacing it will most likely be better than the original.

Re: Question On Mods For PC

This is where I get almost all my downloads for HH PC. If the PC game didn't have the downloads to improve the graphics I probably wouldn't be playing it.

Minimum system requirements. Don't be fooled by what's on the box. I met the minimum system requirements and the game ran like crap out of the box, slow motion animations.
I had to update my video card. That said, you also have to be careful which video card you update to. Most expensive doesn't necessarily mean it will be compatible. I got the ATI Radeon 7500, 128MB at pricewatch.com for $69 (A super deal, by the way).

If you want to read up on all the problems with running the PC game go over to baseballsimcentral.com.

I have a MIcrosoft Sidewinder. I think it was $25.00. Just plugged it in and my computer recognized it. I used to play with the keyboard, but the gamepad is so much better.
