whether you want to believe it or not, alcoholism is a recognized disease guys... i am in school right now obtaining a degree so i can become a chemical dependency counselor... drugs and alcohol suck people in and alter their judgement to a degree that they are pretty much insane... have you ever seen someone drink and do something completely stupid that they would have never done sober? i have plenty times... some times they don't even remember it the next day...

I see it all the time working late night at a hospital. I know the stupid decisions they make & the tragic results.

Answer the questions: What disease kills 3 innocent people not infected? What disease forces someone into a car to drive?

This is not a disease. How do you treat alcoholism? Antibitoics? Radiation treatment? Surgery? No, you do it w/counseling. Do you counsel cancer in order to cure it? Diabetes?

I know your schoolbooks tell you one thing. But your common sense should tell you that's not true.

This is an awful tragedy, but I completely understand people who feel sorry for Gallo. Not sorry for his act, but sorry he's a human being who either never received the proper help, never reached out for the proper help, or was never able to overcome his addiction/disease.

I'm not trying to be rude but this is going to sound rude: this is a thread for people to share condolences for Nick Adenhart and the other victims of this senseless tragedy, not to listen to bleeding heart liberal B.S. about how alcoholism is a disease and the asshat who did this couldn't help himself. So please out of respect for the deceased take this drivel somewhere else. Let people vent and say what they want and keep the psycho-bable out. If you want to defend this clown do it somewhere else. I understand Alcohol has a power over some people, but that is not the problem here.

This guy was driving on a suspended licence for drinking and driving...and he decided to go out and get drunk then drive home.

He made the choice when he was sober...so no, I will have no sympathy for this guy. I feel for his family, I feel for Adenhart, I feel for Adenhart's family, but this guy knew what he was doing.

Absolutely correct. He made that decision and now 4 people are dead. Completely tragic and avoidable circumstance, but because one guy can't control himself 4 other people had to lose their lives.

A life sentence would be too good for this guy.

Wow, I am really heart broken by this story. My dad called me at about 1 am because we knew Courtney Stewart and I just couldnt go back to sleep. I can't believe this would happen. I am really pissed that he ran like that. Suspended license and prior DUI....Freakn clown.
